Irish Horse Feeds, Ireland's only supplier of Bailey's horse feed is no longer stocking it. Tell me this is not true?? The shop in which I purchase my Bailey's is currently trying to source some from the North. What are people planning on doing?!
Irish Horse Feeds had a monopoly on Bailey's, supplying the entire country, seems like madness to stop stocking them, I'm very surprised and slightly panicked as my own feed supplies are quickly dwindling

That would be great!! It seems like madness considering they were supplying the entire country! Cant get my head around it really...:( very awkward, have two mares on stud balancer, the tack shop is now out of it and IHF apparently aren't doing any more Bailey's deliveries..have gotten some stud cubes to tide me over. Hate the idea of switching them so late in their pregnancy. There's no more stud mix/cubes or balancer left so am waiting to hear if something can be organised from the north.
What is everyone else doing? There will be feed riots in shops in no time!!:p

So Bailey's are pulling out of IHF as opposed to IHF no longing stocking Bailey's?! Who will stock the south? Im confused:confused: Am facing swapping feeds now, not impressed at all. IHF had such a good thing going, don't understand this!!

Presume there is too much competition for baileys down south perhaps? Plus the way the economy is ( :( ) maybe more people are turning to redmills or local feeds which are slightly cheaper as no import fee.

Glad they are still staying in the north, they do a huge business here!

Baileys do plenty of business, when i asked in work they said that had been going on for a while and it would definately be taken on by someone, the why dont you contact baileys directly, if this has been ongoing then they must have some idea on what direction they are going to retain the business!

i bet its not cost effective because of the price of fuel etc now. there isn't much made on a bag of feed. if they are supplying it to south ireland at the same price they are to say a wholesaler within a few miles of there depot they can't be making very much. out of interest what are you paying for a bag of baileys (lo cal or topline cubes are the ones i know the prices of off the top of my head)

IHF were located so centrally, they were in the optimum position to distribute the feed throughout ireland. The mark up on feed is pretty pathetic (I worked in a saddlery shop which stocked fancy feed, speedibeet, coolstance, bailey's, top spec..), and with petrol/diesal being so expensive..
I have taken the plunge and bought some red mills, bags are 25kg instead of 20kg and its only 12euro a bag for stud cubes but i am suspicious of change..! Am not a bit impressed and just want to return my beloved bailey's. Choice of feed is already so so limited in Ireland, its very frustrating.
Am still waiting to hear back from local saddlery where I get my feed, they are looking at potentially sourcing it from the north..presume prices will go up with delivieries coming from so far away now..:(
