You know when you are on a lovely hack, sun is shinning, horse is on best behaviour and your quick 1hr hack turns into a 3hr venture.....well i always use the excuse that I got lost!!!

OH has just bought me a Garmin GPS for Xmas and has just spent the last 2 days showing me how it works, so all new storys ( excuses) welcome for those slightly extended rides............................

Just say that the satellite signal must have been a bit 'squiffy' and it wasn't displaying correctly

Oh god where do i start!

girth broke had to walk back, farmers protesting, gate wouldn't open, closest one was half an hour away, saw a loose horse had to catch it and find owners, horse acting like a looney had to walk back and lead, you got stuck in between some bushes, the screen on your GPS froze!

hahaha

Fab present by the way! I've got a Satmap and love it - really no excuse to get lost and a great way to explore previously unexplored areas knowing that you won't get lost. Indispensible in woodlands

Technology is fabulous WHEN it works......

Pressed the wrong button by mistake when out and then couldn't figure out how to work it......

Didn't want to take it with you and drop/break it..........

Horse doesn't know how to use GPS......

Flat battery........... (must remember to leave GPS on all night the night before)

HollyB66............yes I can not wait to use it for planning rides - TBH I am really enjoying funrides and have decided not to renew my BSJA this year so that I can explore the countryside more. I seem to get more enjoyment varying my equestrian pursuits and not just sitting around waiting for my class with 60+ entries

My husband has just got a Garmin too, we are finding it useful to observe more closely speed limits in the car,Just yesterday we spoke about using it on rides, one question,do you have a holder or pouch for it, how do you not touch the screen, by mistake, when riding?good luck
