No one told me...

.............And the worst thing you can do is read HHO!

You will find out about illnesses that you never knew existed, which have to be worried about too! ;) ;)

But which can all be cured with Turmeric ;-) Nope - don't worry any more; except of course when I'm stuck at work and haven't put the correct rug on or it's summer and it's raining and will they be cold; and am I going to run out of horse feed on Christmas Day and is that shoe going to fall off or not and if it doesn't should I take it off in case the nail goes into the sole and...and....and.....

a year into it and I still worry too much. Fat, thin, tired, bored, overworked, underworked, rug, don't rug, clip, don't clip, front shoes, full set shoes, no shoes, hog, don't hog, straw, shavings, hay, haylage, brown saddle, black saddle, does he hate me, now he's a shadow under my feet, hack, don't hack, red or purple, turn out, keep in. I blame the 5am alarm addling my brain!

My worry, and I have decided it is a bit of OCD..is whether my saddle is in the tight place. Number of times I've got on and off a couple of times at start of a hack to move it backwards or forwards half an inch.

OMG - I thought this was only me! I've never hopped off, but if I'm on my own tacking up I can get a bit OCD!!! And spend a while standing at the side thinking is it level? If there is someone else there I don't give it a second thought, how weird is that!

It definitely comes with the territory! When I made the decision to buy my horse many years ago, I couldn't sleep with excitement. Then when he arrived, I couldn't sleep for worrying - I used to drive down to the field at random times of the night to make sure he was ok!
It gradually lessens but never really goes away (as it probably shouldn't). It helps to know that he is totally settled at the yard he is at now, and that everyone there is lovely and that they wouldn't think twice about helping out if there was ever a problem. Happy horse = happy owner!!

This, I've been lucky enough to have my lot at home, I often lie in bed and get the urge to go check them, are the oldies warm enough, did I give them enough hay, I have lost more sleep over my horses than I ever did over my kids
