Although I dont think they are worth the paper they are printed on, I have now seen several adverts for horses for sale which clearly state NO Passport! Also several people genuinely interested in buying them without a passport. There is no wonder so many horses disappear without a trace when people will happily buy a horse without a passport, simply obtaining a new one.

Is it just me that has an issue with this??

It would be really nice if passports were aimed at keeping horses safe but sadley they are there only to keep a record of drugs given incase the animal goes for slaughter and ends up in the food chain of our europeon neighbours, apart from of course in the case of actual breed papers which keep a record of breeding .

Sadly it doesnt even stop that though since people will happily purchase another passport for a horse, often dont have the relevant part signed. The thiefs who send them off to slaughter just get another passport so the horse is never traced :( I just find it so frustrating that no-one seems to care!

I dont have my loan pony passport,SO called owner refused to give it too me and thats 6 years ago.Ponio still with me,shes keeping my lovely cobblet company.

Yes sad that people sell these animals without passports.

I've never seen an advert saying 'no passport' and am surprised they are allowed to go up saying that.
I agree that they don't seem to be worth the paper they are written on though.
If I saw an ad saying no passport, I would be very tempted to report it to trading standards, as obviously they are breaking the law.

would like to say passports are a joke . i had a horse pumped full of drugs and never once was the passport asked for by ANY of the vets at ANY of the practices . horse euthanased and i still have passport !:(:

No, lots of us have issues with this but:

If you see an advert like that-- do something--contact your Council Trading Standards Officer who will either pass it on or give you contact details for the area in which the advert was placed.

I saw an advert for Colts Wanted, passports not necessary which rang lots of alarm bells
so passed it on--the ad quickly removed and hopefully???? followed up by TS Animal Health Officers

Friends were offered colts for £50 each, no passports, they declined until owner chipped and passported.
