My mare is as soft as a brush, but must have been twitch badly or hit on the nose alot as she is very sensitive and its taken me 5 months to get to be able to stroke and kiss her on the nose (she tolerates it for my sake!) She has a huge pink nose, and has a tiny bit of either sunburn or sore or something so I put a tiny spot of sudacrem on her nose, well she hated it and lifted her head so high, I would have needed a crane to get near her. A carrot soon won her round, but I am not looking forward to sumer, when i will have to plaster her nose in sunblock - any tips (apart from buy a crane!)
 
My boys have sensitive white noses too. When it gets hotter, they'll wear the the longer fly masks with the material that comes down to their nose, so it protects them from the sun. It's much easier than trying to put cream on every day. They all seem to hate suncream (well mine do).
 
My mare will let me put sun cream on but hates the lovely mask I bought her to cover her nose. I put it on one day (everyone said she would get used to it!) when I returned in the evening she was still trying to rub it off and blowing her nose all the time! So I have a spare cob/full size mask with nose cover if anyone wants it! Will have to spend a fortune this summer on sun block instead!
 
Ditto the full length fly masks but also found thr P40 cream (expensive but it sticks all day and works) has been a life saver for shows, riding or for those horses that don't like anything over their nose. My horse used to just stand and nod all day with his on.
 
Mine hate having cream on their noses, even if I put it on something first it never works.

They both have lonh fly fringes by shires that I got off ebay for £6 brand new.... Bargain!
 
My horse has a equlibrium UV mask with a long bit to go over the nose. It rubs his nose so badly it is appauling. Now I use factor 50 suncream, but still he gets a burnt nose!!!! Poor pony!!!!!!
