I have a hairy cob (in case you didnt gather from the pics). I am showing him (traditional) a fair bit and riding him loads - he is getting quite sweaty now and I need to clip him but dont want to lose his "hairiness", its what makes him him. SO, what clip do I go for please that is best for him but wont lose him his marks in the arena? Thanks. (ps he is stabled at night).

girth area and neck - not sure what to do about the neck thing, i plait his mane up to help (and it stops it catching in the reins) but its both sides he sweats on.

My daughter has a traditional cob that she shows. He has a full clip with leg hair left on and this makes a great deal of difference as he sweats so much especially under his very thick mane. He's not shown at the moment but he will be at some early qualifiers in March and the clip has not been an issue at past shows. Infact he may well be clipped all year round next year as he suffers quite a bit in the heat of summer. The leg hair will need to be blended in for the summer (to show off his feathers) but we think he will be more comfitable and this comes first.
