Havent bought a ticket to ride for years. Used one today and no rossette given, is that normal? They said ticketed riders get nothing. I know no prize money but considering I paid £20 for that one class youd think they still hand out a rossette... Im not one to care that much but it was her first proper BS class.

I seem to remember that being the rule when I first jumped on a ticket although that was prior to 2004. You would have thought times had changed by now the costs associated with it! I thought it was particuarly stingy at the time. You don't get placed and you don't get money/points either.

I'm not sure you even jump competitively on a ticket - one of mine has jumped a few shows this year and even on double clears I don't think the results are recognised. Not that we care, we just use it for event training.

No frillys, no money, no point on a ticket.

Shows are hellish and expensive now. Even unaffiliated have gone up and are now the same price as affiliated in my area.

Yep riding on a tickek means riding non competitively, for experience. I found that out unexpectedly too when Izzy took Jenny BS on a ticket. Her first BS show. It's different for BE so I did not realise. She was disappointed, but it is what it is.

Yeah seems very miserable. I paid £5 extra on top of the entry fee so for the price of a cheap rossette...

I just remember years ago you'd get placed along with everyone else, but you just didnt get prize money. I plan to join in January but no point now as thats our last area's BS until next year! So not much encouragement to join!

Do the unaffiliated offer prize money? Seems crazy they're charging same entry fee if not. At least BS you have the chance to win some money back (if a member). Im waiting until January so I can be an RC member which then gets me the BS membership discount which is a good chunk off so worth waiting for!

Crikey that seems stingy. Not even a nice memento of out your day out! Sounds like they're making some sort of point by NOT doing it.
I completely agree to take time and effort to do a BD event and your in the line up with everyone else and you don't get no prize money or a rosette but who ever is a BD member gets the prize money and a rosette i just can't get my head around this

I think quite a lot of centres also offer a cup of tea or a packet of polos or something like instead of a rosette. I've not done any show centre run classes recently but would always go for the rosette.
I think the choice is a nice idea, I’m sure the pros and the amateurs with a small string don’t need every 5th place in a 90cm class rosette they get but for those of us who’ll never get anywhere, that might be the biggest place we’ve ever had and there’s just nothing!

I brought a friend a second place rosette online a couple of years back, she jumped a double clear in a 1.10, came second out of two and no rosette but it was her and her horses first attempt at that height and she really felt sad about it!

Make sure you join on the 2nd of the month and then you get 7/13 months for the price of 6/12. I personally quite like the 6 months membership but if you are a RC member then that’s the cheapest way to join. It’s something like £140 for you and horse.

That’s their argument for tickets - gives people a taste before they join.

yeah it has always been no placings, no prizes, no frillies for ticket entries - that definitely dates back to the early 2000s when I first competed on a ticket. I don't think it is terribly fair, but the message is pretty clear - if you want to participate, you have to join.
