No Scope Festival reports?

I was hoping to see some as well.

Mind you I went for two days, just to watch I would point out lol, however I wanted bargains and I couldnt find a thing ... gutted.

I've been trying to upload a picture which sums up the week but it would not work!

It wasn't that bad actually I wasn't jumping on the raining days but I did have to jump at 2.30 in the morning on Friday that will be something I won't forget! Was unlucky all week fast time but one down in the JO sort of thing! But we did manage to get a 5th and 6th in the 2 consolation classes :)

Here we go..........

Claire!! I had nearly succeeded in erasing that image from my mind.

Hmm we jumped at 3.45am and 3.15am consecutive nights. Horse jumped like a donkey, I rode like shrek.

Jumped consolation on the Friday in the bottom ring, horse slipped straight through the lime green wall and has two heamatomas on her chest and multiple cuts.

Saw more child abuse that I want to admit, from smacking a child round the face so hard your lorry rocks, to hitting a 5/6 year old with a veredus tendon boot over the head, full force.

Only good thing was the wine we took with us!!!

That sounds awful I hope your mare is ok :( I saw more pony abuse than child abuse but either way is not right! We will not be going to Scope next year I think I will pencil in Hickstead or Arena UK instead. I'm having a break now cannot face another show for a while!

You guys did indeed!
You were right. I had reservations but the rest of the crew go every year and convinced me. See what peer pressure does?!?? Just say no kids.

Thanks claire- she will be ok. My amazing physio body worker was out on Monday working on her at 8am and found great swathes of soreness. She's on a week gentle walking and he's back on Friday and again next Wednesday!

I'm another who cannot face any more shows. I've nearly even decided I'm not going to aintree or southview layer this year!! It was a far cry from the loveliness of arena and Weston lawns, and Wales and west.

It started badly with not being allowed to park next to friends as they have hook up and I don't!! And continues downhill as friend then queued 6 hours for hook up, And they eventually ran out as over booked it! Gave her a refund but she didn't want her money back she wanted lights and a fridge!!!

Because three horses in a row fell over in the outdoor ring and it was deemed dangerous, so they moved those classes indoor, but obviously they have to fit around those already scheduled inside. I course walked at 12.30 midnight, and was drawn 131, 148. We were up all bloody night as we also had horses in our crew drawn 13, 79 and 11? !!

Course walked the other course at 2.15 am....

  so glad we event now! We went a couple of times when son was on ponies and found certain aspects an eyeopener to say the least. I hate to think what the outside arenas were like for you. On one of our trips there it rained quite heavily and the arenas cut up badly so we made sure we were ready to declare and jump first thing the next morning, fortunately it paid off - six hours later when the class finished the arena looked like a ploughed field.

I went for the first time this year, and i actually really enjoyed it, but having said that out of the 6 times i jumped 5 of them were in the indoor and when i was outdoors it was in the scope ring before the rain hit!
I was lucky enough to jump in two championship finals, and the atmosphere was great. the stables were a pain, but at least inside my stable was dry, and it was copable with only one horse. I ended up jumping at 2.30am, it was a novel experience and luckily i came 15th to qualify, so it was worth it!
I would go again, if i qualified for the right classes ;)

i love it we go every year.
yes there was mud but hey its england and it rains.
most people moaning about the weather on facebook etc seemed to be the ones not there ;)
the organisers are fab and do everything they can, next year they are putting in another surfaced working in area so thats 2 all weathers. good effort i think.
as ever, we had a ball, and the social side of the show beats everwhere else hands down :)
ow and did i mention we won? :D

Well done almorten that's a great photo! I was actually at Scope but ended up with stitches in my leg so couldn't ride till the Fri and then probably shouldn't have! Claire were you in the Blue Riband consolation? I won that, I wonder If I saw you? Really enjoy your reports, would be nice to say hi. I don't think I will be rushing back, my stables leaked and the mud was horrendous, I hated leaving the horses stood in the wet!!!

Well done AlMorton - I guess you won the Katherine James? As that does look like her :)

Congratz JackandJill too!

I went to scope years ago and I did really enjoy it - that year it was really wet too.

Congrats almorton- your round was fabulous. Some tough courses built.

Sadly we were on what the stable team called the worse aisle- totally impossible to push a wheel barrow through at the end. Our stables leaked too I'm afraid so sodden rugs- teach us not to bring turnouts With us for every horse!

First time for us this year too. Daughter was desperate to go as had always missed out previously due to finances. We were there practically the whole week but she was only doing the one class. The mud was horrendous!! Just pushing barrows around the stable area felt like running 5 miles lol - shows how unfit I am! Sadly our prelims were held in the bottom rings, which were awful! Having said that, she qualified to jump in her final in the inside ring so was chuffed to bits! All in all, despite the rain and the mud, we all had a fab time!! I ate far too many chocolate fountain cups!! Luckily stayed every night in a local BandB so at least we got to shower and sleep well. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and all the walking did me good! Would love to go back next year :)
