No silly prices please...

I replied to someone who had posted looking specifically for an Earlys of Witney exercise blanket, in new/excellent condition. I have one, which has been used a few times since new, and said I would like £50 for it (They are around £200 new) Sent several photo's which show how immaculate/fluffy etc is it is
She replied "£50? Are you having a laugh?"
I think I'd have gone back with: "You're right actually. It cost me £200 new, is barely used and in excellent condition so £50 is laughably cheap. It's £100 now."

The best one I saw recently was some one who had bought a pair of boots. They didn't fit her but she'd missed the deadline to send them back so was selling them - for more than she paid for them as the ones she really wanted were more expensive.

My favourite phrase in adverts is "no timewasters". Oh and there was me planning on asking you loads of questions, coming to see a horse I have no intention of buying just for a free ride. But now you've told me not to waste your time, I'll toddle back to my cave and won't bother you.

Indeed, both "no timewasters" and "no silly prices" are pointless phrases. Noone thinks they are a timewaster or that their price is silly, it is all in the eye of the beholder. Agree that they flag very effectively the type of people I would rather not deal with.
