No trailer license + my companion having a broken shoulder

Hi!

Please could someone offer some advice?

I currently tow on L Plates and have someone with me with a license <1997. She has recently broken her shoulder and cannot drive. Would she still be ok to be my companion and make me legal to tow?

Please can someone let me know if this would invalidate any insurance?

Im sure so long as your total vechile/trailer weight with horses on board doesn't exceed 3.5 tons then you can actually legally tow on your own without L plates on a normal B licence.

Someone else can probably give you more correct advice tho, tell me if the above is correct?

Yes

There is no legal requirement for the supervising driver to drive the vehicle or be insured to drive it but they must be able to supervise and not be affected by drink or drugs etc

I can answer that but I would need to know the GVW of the vehicle and the plated MAM of the trailer

I'm almost certain I'm heavier than allowed. I drive an L200 and have a 506 with a horse weight c.480kg.

I should just do my test but luckily my mum likes coming along for the ride haha.

Its not based on actual weights but the two MAMs added together . In this case the l200 wont be far short on its own.
 
Tell me if I'm wrong but I think my trailer instructor told me that you can not tow animals on a b licence anyway? I'd asked if I could tow my horse with my dad beside me (definitely under 3.5k) and he said no. Then again it could have been a sales ploy..

Where did that instructor get that from ???
Certainly not written in law
