NO TURNOUT- ITS JUY FOR GODS SAKE!!!

We are lucky in the winter when they re-seed and fertilise they come in (I moan at the time), but they are allowed out 24/7 all summer, whatever the weather does, it is muddy (hoof mud) but still hard underneith!!
 
Same here. Keep mine at home but our grazing is like a paddy field and its not stopped all day so only on sand area and paddling there...
 
These posts make me realise just how lucky we are - we have no restrictions on turnout at any time of the year - the YO lets us decided when we want to start bringing in/leaving out - and even though he is a 'converted' farmer thinks all horses should be out - our fields hold up well and even when they start to look trashed at the end of winter he isn't worried as he maintains them well and they are soon back to normal.
 
Turnout is NEVER restricted on our yard ( working farm)

Ok, in winter we have winter paddocks which get trashed and muddy but I put mu horses out form 7am untill teatime with hay in that situation, and the winter paddocks are now resting and growing again.

YO keeps her own horses on the yard and likes her horses out....so she would never expect us to put up with that. My horse would just not cope with being stabled 24/7.
 
ours are all out, apart from poorly mare and foal. but most of ours live out all year anyway. we have had lots of rain and hasn't stopped all day but we dont have any mud, the ground is so hard it just seems to disapear
 
Every horse on my yard except one of box rest are on 24/7 turnour at the moment, YO NEVER bans turnout. Can't believe you get total bans!
 
turnout is never restricted at my yard and i wouldn't be at a yard where it was.

turnout was the highest thing on my list when looking for a new yard and i have sacrificed a yard with a school to get it but i am more than happy with that compromise.

see my posts about flooding, my bottom fields were under 3ft of river, the local horse college are canoeing around their stable yrad and fields and theyre quarter of a mile from the river!
 
What a load of rubbish...I would vote with my feet and find another yard ASAP they obviously don't give a crap about the horse's welfare. I hate yards like this. we have had lots of rain and it's hardly touched the ground, dig down an inch or two and it's still like rock underneath.

I would never have my horse in, in the summer unless ill or needing to keep off the grass or a break from the flies. If it were me I'd be looking for another yard PDQ

Only restricted out of choice! Horse is a v good doer so needs to come in off the grass for at least part of every day. He comes in during the day, gets soaked hay, goes on the walker, has time for his belly to go down and is ridden last thing before going out.

I wouldn't be at a yard that banned summer TO, rain or no rain! The thin skinned wussy TB racehorses on our yard are out 24/7 so my IDx is fine for sure!
 
Im afraid id be looking for a new yard, I can understand restricted in winter, but its summer and you'd be surprised how quickly the grass bounces back
