No Water

Is this the same YO that drug deals??

I'd ditto Henryhorn, give water for the next couple of weeks then report thm when you've gone. If they've been like this for months then they won't die in the next fortnight.

Yeah christmas_kate, its been really hard for me to get a new yard, if i could have got one then i would have gone by now!

Over the months its been me doing the horses, i hadnt been in to see them in a few days as i was packed out with my lot and there is no light in their shed.

Okay not everyone is like us, my OH jokes with people that if the horses sneeze the wrong way ive the vet out. Does it really take long to clean out one stable, even once a day? Sorry i just get mad about it.

This is horrendous. You have done your best for these horses for too long already. Report the horses' owner and the yard owner as soon as you can. This is a serious welfare case and if the yard owner is incapable of making sure there isn't blatant suffering of horses taking place on his property surely there must be some organisation that has the authority to shut him down. I'm furious with these people and I've not even met them - how do you cope??!!

The new welfare act means its a lot easier for them to act earlier now, so well worth another go truly.

ILPH a lot better and more equine knowledgeable than the political organisation masquerading as a charity RSPCA IMHO.

Ditto haffieliesel. The change in law means that welfare can take action before suffering has occured. It sounds like it has actually occured though if they are a bag of bones.

Poor ponies.

I agree with you 100% and I tend to rush in with both feet but I think the people who have suggested waiting till you leave are right in this instance. Another couple of weeks (with you watering them) isn't going to make a big difference in the grand scheme of things and it means that you're horse(s) are safe from being punched (OMG!!)

Can you take photos (don't think digital ones would stand up in court) of the condition they are being kept in etc?

I'd report them to a horse welfare as they tend to be a bit more clued up than RSPCA.

Can you report the YO to anyone? BHS, welfare, police, local papers?!

I know most (every?) YO does it for the money; it's not as if it's a barrel of laughs running a yard and dealing with liveries but surely they need to ensure that all horses are at the very least looked after!?

Good Luck!!

Hello,

Can you let us know what happens? I'm worried too now, and I'm sure other people are as well. What a horrid life they're having with no food, water, turnout or love. No wonder they look sad.

I will keep yous informed, im ready to explode with the owners but i know that will get me nowhere. Wonder how they would like to be locked in a house with no food and water

be careful they will either turn on you or your horse, i've be in the same position as you, its not nice, try keeping a log of when they turn up to fed water ect, if you decide to report they the ilph are the best for a result good luck

I can't believe they are only going up twice a week being on DIY and the horses are in. That is shocking. I've been in a similar situation but not with horses, with neighbour's dog and had to report them in the end but as wowser says be careful as they may turn on you.

In my opinion this is totally disgusting. By not providing water, and by hte sound of it, not providing adequate feed and also not shoeing for at least 6months this owner is totally and utterly guilty of neglect. Again, it's disgusting. People like this should not be allowed to keep animals.
I personally would report them to ILPH and RSPCA (both if poss) ASAP to save them anymore suffering. If you report them when you leave it will be pretty obvious to owner that you waited til you left then spoke to the agencies.
I feel so sad for these poor horses.

seriously, report this to the ILPH. the owners have a duty of care under the new animal act. and it IS making a differnce. the yO also has responsibility. you can discuss things anonomously, the'll never know who reported them so dont worry about that.

Before you report them, have you got a decent camera? Get along there at a quiet moment and take some photos of the ponies and the conditions they are living in......then you'll have some solid proof for any inspector.

Im going to phone again tomorrow, they were up today, havent been up since tuesday/wednesday apparently. The water dish that i put in was thrown out of the stable. Checked on them before i left and they werent cleaned out, no food put in and the wee feed dish they use for water was not filled with water.

Ive got pictures if anyone wants to see them.
