Hi There

Wondered if anyone could throw some light on this one for me.

16hh Sport horse type - Gelding - 16 yrs very young !

Nodding in walk when the right front leg comes forward to the ground - nod is downwards and to the side swing.

Has been doing it since 16th December for sure - coz I wrote it in my diary that I thought he was nodding slightly. However, due to weather constraints and only having an outdoor and Christmas, then the other girly going to hospital, he hasnt been ridden much. Got on him at the weekend and the nod is deff still there !

Hoof print patterns however are equal between each side and each stride.

Does it with or without rider and with rider without saddle - riding bareback.

However, lunged him last night to try and ascertain for deff which leg he is lame on - and he showed nothing in trot - even on a very small circle ...... on both reins.

I'm at a loss ..... anyone give me a clue what could be wrong?

Thank you

I am having that exact same thing!

Near fore nod. Mine is intermittent, and again, only in walk.

I am on a months walk due to a slight strain, had tendons scanned, nothing there, so just a precaution, was slightly lame two weeks ago, now I very naughtily sneak a few trot strides (maybe 6) in just to check for lameness and can't feel any in trot. But I get that horrible "nod" in walk just for a few strides especially when I try to get him really marching and on the bit.

I have only owned the horse for two months and we hurt him at the end of the first month!

Mine is now 11. I was wondering maybe whether its to do with the back?

Perhaps its more when we are sitting on than off?

I also have one like this. Had many tests done and the final diagnosis was "sprained knee". Rest and recouperation was the treatment suggested.

Horsegirl - nodding the same on each foot fall is to be expected as is some movement - heck, there animals - but this is a deff. downwards nod and swing each time his right front foot comes to the ground .... just seems very strange to me and he never used to do it .... ???

Armhole, I'm glad its not just me that seems to have had the bad luck of a horse going lame within a month or two of owning it!!!
