Noddy and Big Ears' Adventure in Norfolk

Bloody well done, Saturday was horrible - I sat in my LandRover scoffing chocolate brownies at the house jump in the top corner and I was freezing even with my heated seats on.

Both your boys looked very confident and didn't I hear Henry suggest you should go Novice on the PA?

Loved the report I'm headed to the fridge for a bottle of Fentimans finest.

JDx

So that's where you were! I only remembered when it was too late. :(

I didn't hear Henry suggest that, I must've had water in my ears. :p

finally got time to watch the vids. i think the weather conditions made for hypersensitive ponies in the dressage, only reason i can think for the momentary hysterics. at least cowpony did his at the other end, not right in front of the judge.
SJ looked good, so much better for cowpony, much much less argumentative and not running at all now. Noddy looked as if he just couldn't take such small fences seriously, you did v well to magic a clear out of him on a cba day! shame there's no xc vids, was looking forward to seeing you ride xc in flippers and snorkel...

I was hoping the judge's eyesight might not be that great and miss Big Ears' "moment" but nope, I got a 4 for that movement! He was fab showjumping though so I forgave him. Noddy needs something bigger or, as we were doing in last week's lesson, jump-off type turns to make him focus. ;)

Well done, the boys look fab love the XC photo of Big Ears :)! The weather does look horrid, but isn't it the best dressage weather - nothing like heavy rain to make them keep their head down ;) :p! Good luck for Belton :).

Well done - weather and going didnt sound good at all.

Love ''Noddy'', his funny moments in the dressage were very bizarre!! As the rest of the time he looked really good. ''Big Ears'' is looking great too, definitely gave it minimal effort in the SJ but still looked good :)

Thanks, jumptoit. Not only did it keep their heads down but well and truly behind the vertical most of the time, which you can see me trying to "fix" and failing. :(

I do think Noddy was just trying to find a different and novel way of being naughty!

Oh Baydale Blyton, what a tale of lashing rain and calamatous conditions. Well snorkelled XC, you can see how gross it was.... eeeeeeew :o. I reckon the D judge was de-fogging her windscreen at all the wrong moments, as I liked them being feistier and looking much stronger - perhaps they just need a more complex test to keep their little brains busy :D. Nice work on the SJ, both pinging well in derisory insult to the horrid weather! Hope you're inhaling ma baydale's cake at speed, ready for Belton tomorrow - Good luck :D

I love the sound of squelching all through the SJing!

Dressage stressage, blame the judges poor eyesight! Didn't she see the flashing signals from the lighthouse Big Ears was pointing out? Or the smugglers in the hedge that Noddy saw?

The boys look delighted and v. happy to be going XC, you look ... wet  Look on the brightside Belton can't be much worse can it? And if memory serves there are lots of trees to shelter under on the XC!

It can't be Blyton if you didn't have any macaroons!!! I swear the F.Five eat some in everybook, them and ham sandwiches.

Sounds like a good trip in terrible weather! Belton def can't be worse (weather wise - before i jinx you) surely? lol Just seen your times, ouch!! All the best for it, hope big ears sees fit to make up for his appalling behaviour at Oasby and carry you round with very little work needed from yourself and you can just enjoy the scenery or munch some scones and maybe a cup of tea en route lol.

We've recently discovered Crabbes Ginger Beer which is alcoholic, even better. :D

Haven't tried this yet but I am very partial to Crabbes Ginger Wine with lashings of whiskey:)

Have the Cheeky Boys been in touch with Mr R C Git (otherwise known as H)? This week he has perfected 'eat the ears then spin and shoot off sideways' D_K actually offered to get on him, hasnt sat on him for nearly 2 years to help me out. We got some very funny looks while finishing off the hack, him on a 15.2 and me on the nearly 19hher:D.

The weather looked foul, more a day for sitting by the fire rather than eventing. Loved Lionel's commentary though.

Good luck at Belton.

A more complex test? Their brains might cope but I doubt mine will. :D Why can't there be a litle "Full" sign that pops up when they've (or I've) taken in as much as there is capacity for?

You've got a more over-active imagination than Noddy and Big Ears, Felicity. ;) And no, there weren't macaroons, how remiss of Ma Baydale. I'll tell her she'll get the sack if she doesn't buck her ideas up. :D

Big Ears definitely got the Mud Plugger of the Day award for staying most good-humoured of all of us, human and equine. :D

The CBs think it's only fair that they share their knowledge (aka tricks and disobediences) with other horses.

First off, I remember Noddy and Big Ears, and I am not THAT old :p

Now that's cleared up, Jup and Cal both look good - albeit soggy and slightly miserable - but maybe you ought to consider a change of career for Cal, as he obviously would make quite a good clairvoyant with all of these spirits that he can see which noone else can.

Good luck for Belton, and hopefully the weather will be a bit nicer!

oh god don't you just HATE days like that, when it's wet cold, the ground has gone to pieces and you just think 'blurgh nothing here is going to reflect our training as this is a slippery swamp which i just have to try and wobble round, and stay upright'

I always feel guilty for thinking 'can we just go home?' on days like that, mainly because of the entry fee!!!!! well done you for plugging on, but then we all know you are a 'champion plugger' eeeeeeeeh they make 'em tough oop north ;) (and yeah lincolnshire is north to me, im a softy southener through and through - im scared of drizzle!!!!) ;) :)

Whew, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one that's not THAT old. ;)

Cal most definitely has superhuman, I mean superequine, levels of hearing and vision. Shame mine aren't equally super. :(

Ah, so you spotted my northern tenacity, did you? ;) Note to Self: plan visit to parents to top up dwindling tenacity reserves. :D Yorkshire tenacity is a better quality product than the Lincolnshire version. :p

Another one who remembers Noddy and Big Ears and I'm really not that old, meanie :p

So despite the weather, you chugged on? Rather you than me :p Do love your boys :D

It's better than Lancashire tenacity I think, I can think of one occasion where I have not gone to a show when it's been torrential rain and a guaranteed bog, and several shows where after the rain socked through to mu skin on the first occasion, i left and didn't enter anything else, ah the joys of showjumping! :p

Someone must have told you about them as I'm sure you can't possibly have been brought up on them, you're far too young. ;)

I did chug on, we all chugged on. And squelched on. And sogged (made-up word:p) on. Whadya mean you don't want my life, you can't just cherry-pick the boys y'know? :D

But if you had entered, paid a not insubstantial amount of money for the privilege....bet you'd have stayed then, wet through or not? :p :D
