So lately I've been struggling to remember what ^this^ is

Anyone else find their non-horsey social life has taken a major back seat? How do your non-horsey friends take it or have they all disowned you? ;)

I'm lucky to have my non-horsey friends at school so i see them there but apart from that i don't have a social life! And ,may i add, i'm 16 so in theory i should be out there all the time! My social life has ended before it has even began

Must really make an effort to see my non horsey friends this year :)

I have no money and spend all my time at work or with the horse! If I tried to go out with anyone non-horsey I wouldn't have anything interesting to say that wasn't horsey. Sad really isn't it?! However, it is like going out with a group of people with young kids - all they can talk is babies!!!! & all your work mates can talk about is work.

shiny-ISH - Shocking behaviour for a young un! ;)

It's been over a month since I've been visiting my non-horsey friends, not helped by the fact I don't drive as one of my best friends lives a good few miles away and bus fare is pretty steep. Going to have to bribe someone at the yard to check my lad for me one day so I can go have a post new year drink with her :D

I was going to get best friend #2 to come with me to the stables the other day but it poured down rain and snow and he has NO WATERPROOFS!!!!!:rolleyes:

HA HA HA HA HA! I've got a really bad case of that! Bestie #1 must get absolutely round the twist hearing me bang on about all things horsey all the time - I do phone her a lot. And I was just thinking the other night it's lucky i'm single atm coz I reckon I wouldn't be able to keep an OH for long what with the hardly being at home and being knackered when I am, was thinking those with hubbies and active bedroom antics must have energy of superwoman-like proportions! ;) I love to read but recently the only thing I've picked up is horsey mags and the mouse to get to HHO :D

I got married in October - why he married me I'm not sure? It must be true love!!!!

The key, in my opinion, when you meet a man is to ensure he has a complementary hobby - my man does Cycling and Triathlon which requires hours of training and it needs nice weather (rain is ok but strong winds and he won't go out - sound familiar?!). The end of the day we are both knackered, we both have no money and we have both been outdoors enjoying our hobby. He helps a little bit with the horse (pop up and feed when I'm stuck at work) however, otherwise leaves me and the gossiping girls at the yard to it. PERFECT!!!

Ha ha, I manage ok to see my friends every few weeks. I moved to the country so have to make a special effort... I have long since learned NEVER to ride when hung over though! Sundays are lunge days!!!!! Lol!!!! I have even been known to call in to do evening feeds while dressed in my 'going out' gear...
Hubby is a surfer so he has surfy mates that we go out with too, they just talk about waves etc.
I am expecting my social life to totally end soon when my baby is born though. Will have to sacrifice something and it certainly won't be horses :)

I'm trying to prompt my OH to take up a time-consuming hobby. Since going back to horses and me and the girls getting ponies, we are out most of the weekend... Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be getting the hint but on the bright side, he does all the housework while we are out. :D Really would like him to have a sport or hobby of his own though.

My only non horsey friends are at work, all the horsey ones I see occasionally but they're also busy with horses. I work 7 days a week so I can't be fagged with this thing you call a social life, I'd much rather be snuggled on the sofa with OH, a large baileys and a movie :D

Get him to take up shooting, mine is an awesome shot out hunting so the freezer is full of goodies (and my slow cooker full of rabbit and squirrel, yummy!) AND he does the house work :D

To be honest I don't have a horse and my social life isn't that great either.

So knackered after the commute (and poor after paying for it) that I see London friends about once a month and home friends once a fortnight or so. Must make more effort!

What's a social life? :D I'm also 16 and haven't been "out" since august, and that was to a friends (from the yard) wedding! I have school and horse on weekdays, then work and horse at the weekends. Luckily 2 of my best friends also have horses so they understand (but I'm the only one who stables mine at night so they also get annoyed with me always being late or too tired to do stuff with them). The other 2 best friends have learnt that the only way to get me to do anything with them is to organise it weeks in advance so I can do the horse in the morning and get someone to bring him in later on. We all spend time together at school though and are always sending each other texts to keep in contact :)

My OH has gotten very keen on horses since we bought Ali. So he goes to the yard with me and we split the chores. We make a point of going on a proper date once a month though, and we have non horsey friends round every Sunday for a few hours.

lol I struggle more seeing my horsey friends. By the time they've got home in the evening they're too tired and our weekends are limited due to lessons, hacking, shows and having to get them in before it gets dark :D

So i'm 15,Odd shopping trip and socialize at school but that's it, some holidays with friends in summer but apart from that every half term or day i have free is spent making memories at the stables!Whether its riding grooming or helping/working. Dont get me wrong when i go out (once every 6months) its bloomin good!
Boyfriend? erm no thanks i have my horsey!:D unless they wanna come muck out and spend an hour trying to catch her in there flash trainers and trouses half way down there backside there more than welcome!:D:p
And plus at school there not really horsey so i just waffle about new matchy matchy sets and scary pushchairs out hacking and they think im going mad!.. But luckily i have friends at the stables so get to socialize there while spending time with ponies and its great fun!

social life and no horses isn't an option! Would pick my pony over ANYTHING!

Well my social life is absolutely crap. Ever since i was diagnosed with m.e and my "school friends - at the time" all thought i was faking (lol i don't kid) everything went down hill. Obviously i was unable to attend school, even get out of bed in the mornings for a very long time. So i sort of got out of the circle, i havent been to college yet (took a year out and starting in sept) so i don't have college friends, i have my boyfriend and my best friend (rolster lady) and one or two others but that's about it. Looking forward to getting back into some sort of circle of friends though, hopefully some may be horsey but not overly fussed.. used to my friends thinking i was just ditching them, even though it was for horse stuff or illness stuff anyway!!

Wish everyone was horsey, would make life a lot easier, but possibly a lot bitchier? :p

Oh and i've always hated going to town, how boring! But that generally separates me from the group anyway.. funnily enough i actually have better things to do than hang around on benches and look in shops..

I used to have one, but then I met something called a pony... In all honesty, I can't be doing with most teenagers my age these days, horses don't usually gather ASBOs :D They're often much nicer too lol

I have never ever had a social life TBH. I never go out of do anything apart from the horse. I don't have time I struggle to look after and ride just one on my own as I work long days.

My OH is horsey, so he comes to the yard, rides the horse, grooms, mucks out etc which is handy. I have two horsey work colleagues too.......

And most of my friends have babies. I find the best way to deal with a discussion on potty training is to wade in with a tale of mucking out and the relative merits of straw or shavings :D my horse is just as fascinating as their baby :D
