I read on here a while back that someone was struggling for a tweed jacket that fitted well - so they popped to ZARA and paid little for it, changed the buttons to horsey ones and volia - a showing jacket!!
Anyone else done this sort of thing?
I get my shirts for showing from tescos etc and dye them but quite liked the jacket idea :)

At the risk of sounding like a troll when I was approx 15 I wore my granddads tweed jacket to show a highland pony in. :o

I can provide picture evidence of this if necessary.

In fact here it is:

All my day to day riding clothes come from Zara- jackets, sweaters etc. also have a pair of brown riding boots from Zara I wear a lot and constantly get asked about. All gilets come from jack wills. Apart from competition wear and my breeches I don't really buy a whole lot of actual riding wear- too expensive for stuff that's generally quite unstylish!

always get my socks, shirts, polos and jumpers from the high street and I often ride in leggings or jeggins in summer so they're a primarni job! My mother has some very smart brown leather gloves I have my eye on for next season...

Primark leggings. Never wear 'horsey' tops, just casual ones that got old & relegated. Coats stolen from boyfriend, he favours outdoor wear so stuff like north face & berghaus. Plenty of space for fleeces, bodywarmers, jumpers etc. Bodywarmers from anywhere selling them, new look, tkmaxx, etc. Yard gloves from pound shops. A very fetching pair of quilted ski pants, courtesy of best friends husband who's double my width, they fit beautifully. And despite the fact horses not at home, I have done the 2min drive in pjs, wellies & coat to do morning check or turnout.

Link doesn't seem to work and can't edit...they are called 'Chelsea' boots & I'll post a pic later! Means I could do the opposite to this thread - I could wear horsey clothes in a nonhorsey situation (and for the first time ecer

Black wool jacket for dressage and waistcoats for in-hand showing are all from charity shops. I'm handy with a needle so didn't take much to get them tailored so they fit just-so. Showing shirts are boy's schoolshirts. Ties filched from hubby or bought from charity shop. Linen tea towels make great stable rubbers too.

t-shirts, fleeces, bodywarmers etc - as long as they fit and are cheap I'll get them from anywhere. As I'm small I check out child's sizes too.

yard gloves from pound shop.

Most of my yard clothes are old, hand-me-down and pretty scuzzy - only fit for dusters when finished with. Yard footwear is cheap wellies from the agri store with sheepskin insoles or walking boots though my riding boots are an equestrian brand as is my tweed and breeches - but that's cos they fit, are good quality and have lasted for years so by cost-per-wear are good value.
