Non-quilted thin numnah?

hi,
I'm looking for advice from the collective.

I have been using an old polypad with my saddle but decided I wanted a bit more shock absorbance so bought a Winderen half pad (the slim version so it is only 1cm thick itself). I now want to use a slightly thinner numnah but most of the ones I can find either have some sort of padding or have lots of quilting. I used an old one I have which has the standard type quilting this morning and when I untacked I could see the quilting marks on my horse - I can't help but think that can't be good for the back?!

I've been looking for a thinner numnah without quilting, or with a big pattern like the polypad itself, but largely failing - any suggestions? I did find some mesh ones but wonder if they might be quite slippy?

Don'y Nuumed do a thin cotton plain type, they certainly used too. Maybe be worth a look

I would guess, but don’t know for sure, that the quilting stops the 2 outer layers of material from wrinkling and making ridges under the saddle

Thanks. It is not very clear but I think it is extra thick under the saddle as it says you don't need a half pad with it so it is not quite what I am looking for.

Oh dear, I'm beginning to think I am super picky! I did buy one of these with my (Wow) saddle but the saddle just seemed to slip about so sent it back. To be fair he is a bit less fat now so it might be better.

Think you might be a bit stuck then TBH, as thin cotton ones are like this or they tend to be padded.

Premier equine used to do a sort of mesh type saddle pad but depending on the style you want you might have trouble finding one, there's a dressage one on ebay

Have a look at EasyTrek. There's a little bit of grippy there, but not enough to be uncomfortable, and they are nice & light. Easy to throw in the wash too.

I use mine with a Total Contact Saddle but they'd easily adapt to a traditional treed one.
