Just make me arrrghhh!

Sorry, don't want to offend anyone but I am making a plea for titles that we can see more or less what they are about. Nothing more irritating than clicking on a title with a ... only to find it is not anything that interests. Sometimes it is in fact something REALLY interesting and could be easily missed by people who could make a great contribution to the thread.

I tend not to click on non specific titles, mainly because during the day I have very limited time available and want to read just those threads which are most relevant for me. :)

Sorry to be a grump. :o

Seconded!
It is frustrating when you have no idea what the thread is about!

Lol, stop being a grump! :D

I find the threads that start as if there has been a death or major disaster taken place, only to find that a numnah or browband or whatever can't be found that matches or some other inane topic quite frustrating. Only because I get drawn in and then spend more time contemplating something that I shouldn't be bothered with when I've got jobs to do. :o

Wagtail you are so on my wavelength sometimes! I was considering posting this myself earlier! Can't stand ..... halfway through the sentence in a title!

I cant stand 'not strictly XX but...' . Ie yes I know its not supposed to be in this forum but here it is anyway.

Thats why I like the forums that when you put your pointer on them give you a line or to of the thread so you can see if its worth reading :D

When my computer is running slow (ie most of the time!) it's a bit annoying as I wait a few minutes for the thread to load and find out it's either something I can't relate to or (even worse) I've already read it and forgot because I didn't remember the title! (think that says more about me though :))

I like that too, this forum is too big to use that function though I think. Its very handy when you can get the first bit of the post and decide if its worth reading or not.

Oh, and another thing ...

When a thread title looks interesting and you click on it and all there is is a link and absolutely no explanation of what it is about - now that annoys me too :p:D

lol Rowreach, I know what you mean :D

Has anyone ever?

Well, no, you are the only one in the world and certainly on this tiny forum that that has EVER happened to :p

Oh, and 'Does anyone use...?' and you have to open it up to see what you might or might not use.

Im going to be dead careful from now on to be really specific with my titles (not that i ever start any threads these days, but still :D)

If you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser you can download a natty little thing called Interclue. If you put your mouse pointer over the wee box that comes up it lets you see into the thread without actually having to open it :D

There is probably something similar out there for other browsers but I've been using this one for ages - its great :D

Especially when the link opens to pictures of horrific abuse. Please let me have the option to see it or not.
Its not that I don't care, its just sometimes I like to relax and unwind on here.

This absolutely, I am on a few forums and H&H is the only one of them that doesn't have this facility. I'm sure I must miss many very interesting threads because I just cannot be bothered to click on it to find out what the actual content is.:( Conversely, I am really peeved by clicking on something that sounds very interesting and transpires to have no relation to the titles suggested content!:)

Oh thank you!! Have just downloaded it - perfect!;)

I have always tried, if starting a thread, to make the title quite clear as to what it's about.
However this does mean one can get an insultingly low number of readers and responders.
So it's mysterious non-specific thread titles for me from now on.
So there !!!!

I dont know whether it can be done with this board but many have their boards where hovering the cursor over the thread title gives the first paragraph or 150 text characters = very useful

Im sure I read TFC saying that due to the size of the board that wasnt possible ROG.

Anyone know of any Google Chrome apps that do the same as Interclue?
