non traditional showjumping jackets

I seen some one jumping in a blouson style show jacket and was wondering if any knows where you can get them from. It was an unaffiliated event but the venue do host BS and they allowed this person to jump in this jacket.

Looks much more comfortable than a traditional jacket.

Are they allowed at BS? I only jump unaffiliated at the moment but will be looking to change next year.
 
No idea where you get them from but I think they are horrid things IMO, as if you couldn't be bothered to dress properly for competition, and they are really not very flattering to some peoples shapes either! Tradition all the way for me I'm afraid.....
 
Originally the blouson style were by John Whitaker and were accepted at BSJA, no doubt you could wesr then unaffiliated too. I'm sure there are more manufacturers out there now, but if you want to wear one at BSJA checked the rules first.

Personally I don't like them and think the traditional black or navy jacket is far smarter.
 
I have a navy Whittaker one and love it, I don't feel as stuffy in one like I do with a traditional jacket with a shirt.

Brilliant for Summer as you can just wear a vest top or tee shirt underneath and they wash and dry really quickly.

I wear mine for both BS and unaff.

You are both right, traditional does look smarter. I wear a back protector over my jacket and just thought that the blouson type would be comfier under it instead.
 
My forum picture shows me wearing a navy John Whitaker jump jacket with a body protector underneath. Went for a jacket 2 sizes bigger than I'd take usually, fits bp underneath comfortably and still looks smart.
Prefer it to jumping in a traditional jacket, nice and warm when it's cold and still cool when it's warm. Best of all it's machine washable and ironable too :)
