Could anyone tell me where is the best place to go to ride on beach? where to park? when? how much etc etc.

Friends and I looking at arrange a day out with horses, play and ride on beach and maybe go for a nice hack too.

Any ideas. many thanks

Holkam Bay is lovely!! golden sand that goes for miles! you can park in one of the main areas which is £5 a car and trailer i think but it may be a little bit more now(not sure where as dad takes us!) and it is a really horsey friendly beach. you can probably get directions on the internet

Alternatively, for a free ride on the beach, try Trimingham near Mundesley, east of Cromer. Take the unmade road called Vale Road which is besides the Ingleside Hotel (Cromer Road). Then park at the top of the slop and ride down to the beach (about 1/4 mile). The beach is lovely, through to Cromer or Mundesley, but do check the tide times as high tide means there won't be much room left to ride.

Holkham is nice, but can get very busy (blame Shakespeare in Love and the rest of the feature films!!) and is a long ride to actually get to any water - but the beach is wonderful.!!

Gt Yarmouth is free away from the commercial end.You would have to park on road but its not busy at that end do you want some pics

For Holkham, you park at Lady Anne's Drive, which is opposite a big hotel (possibly called Holkham Hotel). It was £10 per lorry last time I went. It's a privately owned beach, hence the charge, but at least you feel the lorry will be fairly safe (I always parked near to the chap in the paybooth).

The horse box and trailer parking is first, you park parallel to the trees, then ride down through the sand dunes and head across the flat bit to the beach. You can then go left or right - right takes you towards Wells, left goes on for miles.

The only thing about riding on the beach is once you have gone up and down for a bit, there's not much else to do in a way. We stayed at a farmhouse in a village nearby which had stabling and paddocks - you can camp or sleep in lorry or do B&B.

It was a 3 hour ride to the beach and back using mainly farmtracks which meant the horses were not too fresh when we got there. Plus we were able to turn them out for a roll and have a cup of tea when we got back, so if you can go for a weekend, that might be more fun. I can pm you the place if you are interested.

If you only have a day, then just park at Holkam - you will have plenty of fun and make sure you take the camera to show us
