I'd like to take my horse on holiday this year. Looking for something in Norfolk or Suffolk, preferably near coast with easy access to off road riding. Stable and turnout would be great but would settle for just turnout if everything else was fab. Would consider B and B as well as small Self Catering but no caravans or camping, please.
Does anybody have any good ideas or does anybody run such a place? ;-)

I think there was something like that on the North Norfolk coast. It was very pretty and near Holcom (sp?) Bay which is miles of beach you can ride allong... I think the place was Nort Creake or South Creake... Sorry for being vague! Worth a look into though

You're right it does look lovely, prices look reasonable too .... sighs .... don't think we'll be able to afford a holiday this year - ho hum ....

Thank you for these studentvet. I shall do a google search ;-)

And yes Terrierliz, it does look fab. Will give them a call tomorrow to see if they have room for us in June :-)
(Blackberry doesn't let me see that kind of detail)

It's about this time of year that most people book their summer hols.

I wonder if a load of HHO peeps suddenly book this holiday cottage - it would be really funny if they suddenly get booked full. The owners would wonder what on earth happened.

A group of 6 of us from the yard went here http://www.littlelodgefarm.co.uk/ for a summer holiday with the neddies in August, I think the whole week, including hay for the ned's and food for us was around the £200/£250 mark.
The people that own it are fantastic, very friendly and really helpful, I would really recommend it to anyone, such a lovely laid back place.
You can see from the website what the hacking is like, pic's show it better than I can describe it.

Three of us stayed here last September in their sc cottage ( sleeps up to 8) ; they have a 2 acre paddock at the side

fantastic time ; They also have a few circular routes to ride, mostly off road, and one brilliant one that takes you to the beach! around 5 miles away.

I can also highly recommend Little Lodge Farm. I have stayed there 3 times now. You can stay in either a good sized static caravan, or in a log cabin. Both very nice. But if you want to do it on the cheap, you can take your tent, or stay in your lorry etc. We have done both the caravan and tent option! Cost us peanuts for the latter and was so lovely to wake up with horses next to us in the morning! The riding is really excellent. There is a lovely river which we always used to stand in for ages both before and after our rides. You can ride for miles with very little or no road work. And if your feeling brave, the cross country course there is nice too!
I will be going back again at least once and probably twice this year x

Another vote for Little Lodge. We used to keep our horses on DIY livery there, until parents found a house with land. Sally, Roy, Jeff and Hannah are lovely and very welcoming.

There is miles of off road hacking and the farm is right by the river, I really miss the hacking there! There's also a xc course and sand arena with a few jumps. It is a pig farm, but pigs are in a barn rather than turned out. One of our horses hated pigs but was fine there as they were in barn.

It's also possible to load up and visit Holkham, it's about an hour- hour and a half by lorry. There is individual turnout of holiday horses and holiday loose boxes.

Another vote for Little Lodge

Went last year and was FAB!! Miles of Riding Thetford Forest and good XC course, friendly people and very very reasonable price... also not too far from Holkham beach if you are taking the lorry or trailer.. deffo worth a trip

I think they Have a website www.littlelogde.co.uk or try and google it.

Im going back this year hopefully!!

Just rediscovered this old thread!
Tried two places now ... The one in South Creak / Norfolk was fab with plenty of beach riding and lovely people. Fantastic rooms and good grazing and stables (albeit a couple of ragwort plants had to be pulled).
The other one was a little house in Dunwich / Suffolk. Also fab. No grazing but a little padock for a roll. No beach but fab sandy rides in the nature reserve. Avoid midge season though ... I got eaten alive.
Next is Ogmire in Wales and the Little Lodge place in Suffolk ;)
