Hello. This is probably a really stupid question but I have always had my horse on livery and have just got one at home this weekend for the first time, so spent hours watching him in the field for the first time. He is on his own in a field with sheep but has horses on both sides of his field so pretty much same set up as before as he was on individual turnout. He is grazing, not calling out much at all, eating well but seems to spend periods of time walking round the field for about 15- 20 mins before settling to graze again for a while before pottering off again. Having never spent so much time watching behaviour before is this to be expected ? He's not pacing up and down the same stretch constantly or tanking round but I am keen to make sure sure he is not stressed. It's nice to be able to see him out my window and check him in my pyjamas but gives me as o much more opportunity to worry ! Thanks

Thanks. I thought he was ok but this 24/7 responsibility is all new. He is also spending quite a lot of time standing by the fence looking at his neighbours who are ignoring him but appears to be just chilling, resting a leg and not shouting. I think it is me looking for problems as I would much rather he had equine company in the field but for various reasons it would be difficult at present. he seems to be settling pretty well in general.
