Hi All,

Does anyone know what the deal is with riding on Saunton Sands / Wollacombe / Croyde beach? Is it allowed? are there any restrictions? I am considering taking my horse down there for the weekend an riding him, not going out with an organised group. Any suggestions on good (and close) holiday livery would be great also! Thanks in advance :)

I'm sure you can ride along Woolacombe, there is a riding school that I went out with whilst on holdiday donkeys years ago, but have also seen pics this summer of a friend riding there, so maybe could contact them and ask for advice? It was brilliant fun, we went miles along the beach and came back through the sand dunes. Afraid I have no idea about Saunton Sands or Croyde Bay. I don't remember ever seeing horses there when on holidays in past years but doesn't mean much! Thinking back, Saunton Sands used to be quite a 'posh' beach, don't think the dog was allowed so doubt horses would!

Woolacombe beach you can ride across, a stable I used to work at does beach rides there, have also taken my horse there. saunton sands I have ridden on before also, but they wouldn't allow me to unload in the car park so rode through braunton burrows onto the beach. Not sure if horses are allowed on the beach at the moment though as I think it's certain months of the year where you're not allowed to ride on it, don't quote me on that though. (: if you do go to one of these beaches, enjoy :D

I used to live at raf chivenor as it was in those days and always rode on braunton burrows and saunton sands, i cant help with parking as we hacked over from the base as we were soo close. Its fantastic!!!
