Did any of you go to the North Hampshire Hunt Show, if so, how did you get on?

I found it was a really well run show, with loads of rings and plenty of entries. Some classes were running late, though because of the numbers.

There was good food to be had at the 'Rider's Digest' van, as well!!!

Do you mean the North Hants show at Newbury Showground?
I was debating on going but decided against it as i dont think my mare is ready for that level of showing just yet.
Its a lovely show though, my friend took his coloured for abit of experience.
How did you get on?

I went took my ex racer never taken him showing before we normally do dressage. We did the ex racer show horse class he got best veteran - he is 14 although acts 4!! and we came 10th and got a lovely rosette was big class about 30!!!

Well done, cazzaroogie. Glad to hear you had a good day on Sunday. Did you get any photos?

I got there quite early, as a friend of mine was Judging in the morning. I don't have any nags now, so the whole day was completely stress-free, although I do miss the buzz of it all when taking part.

I love to go to the shows on Newbury showground - it's a brilliant venue and provides a good chance to catch up with the gossip with all my friends. I shall be stewarding at P(UK) there on 5th May. I planned that weekend very badly - booked to visit Badminton by coach on the Friday, stewarding on the Saturday and judging all day on the Sunday!!! I shall be completely knackered by Sunday night!!!

We took a lorry load of babies. It is a great show as they always have "panel" judges and big rings. We're doing the one on the 5th as well, so may see you there Dun4 - which ring/classes are you stewarding for?

Haven't received info yet. They don't usually tell you til you get there!!!! I don't mind any ring other than workers, as I'm inclined to get distracted when I'm supposed to be marking the sheets!!!

FMM - what classes do you do? When you say 'babies' do you mean youngstock in hand, or green, novice ponies?

The babies are the 4 year olds going out for their first season - we don't "do" in hand stuff. Anything under 3.5 years old lives in the field, comes in for handling, but doesn't go to any shows. Too much like hard work!!!

We'll be doing cobs, riding horses, hacks and hunters at your show!

I've just found out that I shall be stewarding the Blue ring, show ponies. Apparently there are hardly any entries. Are they (the missing entries) trying to tell P(UK) something that they have been warned about over the years, e.g. gross expense for very little reward.

Will the lack of entries mean that the quality of those forward at the Finals may be down? It's a great pity when that happens.
