Take it you've no luck with Tommy or Andy then? Only other farrier I know of in the area is that boy from out Burgie way, is that him maybe?

P.s. Guess who?

Saw the same ad, looked very professional but I have not heard of him but I think theres something about his name seems to ring a bell and I haven't a clue why!!!

he is both and he is registered but still his old details (alnwick)on the farriers registration site. Just search under jackson and he comes up. i have heard that he is travelling regularly down to Northunberland to do some of his old clients so he would proabley have spaces!

And yes absolutely no reason why he can't be both a "normal farrier" and a "natural hoofcare practitioner"! I would have thought that a great combination as he has a very broad view of how best to deal with your horses feet!

No clue where you are based but Jason Cunningham has moved up to the North of Scotland, I have used him in Edinburgh and highly recomend him - he is based in Tomintoul so right in the highlands!

Thanks for that have tried Jason Cunningham he won't came down to us about 30miles says he got to much to do in his on area Strathspey. He at the top of strathspey we're at the bottom!

Have googled Matthew Jackson some good some bad results on other forums. I don't know what to do?

What is the alternative?! I would be far more worried about neglecting the feet than listening to potential gossip on forums from unkown people.

I can well imagine jason has plenty of work. I am in Scotland and my farrier complains about the fact i am not on any "routes" despite the fact i have 3 horses and am a mile from his house!

I think I've talked myself into phoning him to firstly find out if he would came as far as me as he's in dingwall from what I can find out! but he dose travel through out Scotland

I know I shouldn't read to much into whats on other forums but i keep thinking no hoof no horse! and what ifs ?

Where about in Scotland are You ?

Never heard of him TBH. If you mean the Tommy I know then he IS hell to get hold of and really wont take on new clients.

Are you looking for a farrier or a barefoot trimmer? If barefoot then I can recommend someone who could possibly do yours. PM me if you want.

The only way I could ever get him to come was by getting my godmother to book him for me. He was normally pretty good about ringing her back as she had 30 horses needing shod regularly. He'd have been a fool not to get back to her and he knew it. I think he might be more willing to take on new clients now. Last time I had him come he was complaining that he was running out of business as my Godmother was closing her trekking centre down. Yet all he needs to do answer the phone!

Well I only sat beside you for 4 years in tutor, so you might remember me.

It is indeed. Recognised you by the horses. When did you lose Willie? Must have been very sad for you.

Willie was PTS on the 30/10/07 at 1643 heart broken putting it lightly. You know what he meant to me. He had a stroke on the Monday night we fought to get him up all night with our vet mike but he never got up again. In some ways it was easier that way as I didn't really have a decision to make! willies parting gift is how mike put it.

So how long have you been hiding on here then ? hope the locals are being nice

Aww, poor you. He was a special wee horse. I'm impressed you kept him going so long with his epilepsy and everything, you must have looked after him really well. How old was he?

We had to have the cat put down at the beginning of the summer. I'm still heart broken about it. But she held on till I was back from uni, and I'll always be greaful for that.

Not been on here that long. I just lurk and avoid doing uni work. Dont actually post much so the locals haven't had a chance to be mean.

He was 27yrs

Haven't been on as much lately as I'm working full time to keep Maddie in the life she used to you know hay 20 pounds because she couldn't possibly eat anything cheaper and so on......

Where are you working at these days? You should do what I've done and shove your horse out on loan for the winter while you swan off to uni, then your loaner get to enjoy the winter feeding bils

Islay's doing fine. Getting all old and grey though.

anyway am off to bed this time will catch up with you tomorrow again. Great catching up with you!

Until the next time

Matthew used to shoe my horse about 12 years ago when he was still an apprentice in the inverness area. He was a really good farrier even then. I've read good reports on another forum about him. I take it he is back in the area then?
