Anyone been to one of the unaffiliated one day events there?

What are the cross country courses like? Suitable for a slightly wussy rider & horse first time out?

many thanks

I went there about 3 or 4 years ago when they first went affliated. i didn't like it much. At the time the dressage was in the lorry park and the xc runs between the dressage and the sj. I don't know if they have changed much since.
The actual fences aren't very technical I don't think but as I said it was several years since I have been

Thanks for that.

I'm finding it quite hard to find a nice little unaffiliated one day event to do around here; if anyone can recommend any I'd be very grateful.

Sorry can't help anymore, only really dressaged and SJ when I was up there.
But do Richmond hold unaffliated ODE's, if so thats a nice venue.

We're based in co durham, not too far from darlington. Richmond is close; I'll look into them. Also have heard ivesley do a good little ODE too.

Ah you're very near me then!
Ivesley is lovely but the minimus is very small - 1'6 I think, then the triers is quute a big leap to 2'9. Both lovely courses and ride very well.

Also, I havn't been but I am told Upsall Grange in Middlesborough is very nice - sister did the 2'11 there and said it was big, but they also do a 2ft course.

If you don't mind travelling north, there is Gloucester lodge in Bylth. It's a bit of a hike but I think it's a lovely course. I've done the 2ft there but I want to go and do the 2'6 there at their ode on 1st july,

And also, Catterick Garrison Saddle Club do hunter trials. They're near Richmond EC and that is a nice place. Don't know when they next have one on. Their heights are 2'6 and 3ft

Foxberry Chasers is either near northallerton or Richmond - not sure which lol but it's a lovely course. They have a Chasers Challenge competition on on the 24th June.

Finally, there is High Plains. It's wway up north near Riding Mill, but well worth the travelling. They run xc schooling days throughout the summer and it's gorgeous. None of the jumps are huge but it's a good course. They have a Chasers Challenge on 8th July I think.

Hope that's some help!
