Hi, I'm new but as I'm on the edge of Dunstable I thought I'd chip in and say hi :)

I'm not an owner (yet...) and am not actually riding at all at the mo as I'm pregnant, but have shared in Flamstead and Toddington.

Foxymumma - I discovered a lovely bridlepath at Whipsnade tree cathedral the other week (on foot), that follows all the way around to the downs which you may be able to get to from where you are. Otherwise, I'm sure you know of TC Feeds at Dovehouse Farm in Kensworth, you could ask in there - they may know some routes :)

We are not far from you - my daughter hacks all around there, Hollicks lane and as far out as Studham common and surrounding areas - Loads of bridleways and public areas - she has been known to hack as far as Ashridge on a good day

Hi Bix,
Ive heard about that bridlepath!, I think ill have go and walk the dogs down there to explore at somepoint and see if i can get my bearings on how to get to it from the downs, I can get to the downs from where I am, thanks for that suggestion!

Oh wow, thats a fair ol' hack to get to ashridge! lol, I think im going to have to get myself a map and go exploring! how does your daughter find the roads? it seems there are a lot of people who thinks it a good idea to bomb around at 100mph down the lanes near my yard, makes it very daunting taking a youngster out!

It does help that she rides a very large dutch warmblood mare that is 'reasonably' bombproof - however yes there are the idiots around - she tends to ride with a dressage whip out to the side and has on occasion tapped the roof of a car which got too close. Hollicks Lane can be difficult, especially at end of work time - 5 - 6 pm but there are plenty of places that are reasonably safe - If you ever want to go out on a hack or want to go to Studham Common give me a message and we can see if the horses get on together.
You may see her out from time to time - large grey warmblood with skinny girl on top :)

I believe I have seen her out and about passing our yard, very light grey around the 17hh mark? Stunning horse!

Thanks for the tip about Hollicks lane! I can avoid the traffic lol
thats a lovely offer thank you, once ive got her safely hacking on the road and have guaged her reactions to situations I will definatly venture studham way! Would be lovely to meet up with other horsey people too :)
