As it said in the title - how much would you pay for part livery? Small yard (7 horses), nice stables, lots of turnout (restricted in winter, but still daily turnout). Menage. Jumps. XC jumps. Instructor on site. Wonderful hacking - no need to touch a main road ever again.

Everything but riding - feeds, hay, bedding, rug changes, turnout, bring in, brush off, mucked out am, skipped out pm, use of school and facilities...

That sounds practically a full livery package! We pay £76 for part livery however what you mentioned above is exactly what I did when working on a full livery yard, which I think charged £120

Yes it would be like full livery - but really on full livery they are ridden too - the term seems to be changing nowadays!

Thanks for your help..x

I am not on a livery yard and never have been but i think round here that's more full livery as i understand full livery includes all that and then you'd pay extra if you wanted the horse exercising as well. I think a similar sounding yard near us (although without XC course) charges about £100/wk (and that was a few years ago) and that is actually a DIY livery as far as i know so I would definitely say more like £100 + per week for what you describe.

On my yard in doncaster, south Yorkshire for what you described I charge £90 pw for seven days care. Same but mon-fri only is £70pw. That includes all hay basic feed and bedding too.

I'm near Preston and I charge £45 per week for part livery. Have indoor and huge outdoor, all year turnout, instructor on site etc etc :)

I am about to move to a new yard and they charge £80 a week for the following:-

Turnout and bring in each day
Mucking out each day
All feeding
Feet picked
Rugs changed
Brushed
Use of large outdoor school
All hay and bedding provided

How many liverys do you reckon you'd need to make a decent living? How much does insurance and business rates work out, or does it vary?

Just thinking of ways that I could leave my job next year!

Hard to say, I have combined business insurance with the farm and reduced rates for a diversification business, so I'm probably a bit better off than other YOs.
If I do the work myself I need 3 liveries to break even and feed my horses.
I have 11 stables at the moment, with room for another 6, if I filled the place I would be able to not do anything else and have a full time groom, but only just and only because apart from the farming, my OH has a real business that brings real money in ;)

ETS - all the calculations do not include mortgage repayments or any sort of return on capital investment, just covering running costs and a wage (of sorts!)

to me thats full livery and i would be looking at about 100-140 a week although one of mine is on full livery at 15 a week at a friends yard its great think he costs me less than mine at home do and i dont need to muck out
