Well i think Senza may be redeeming herself slowly but surely!!

On Friday i thought i would jump some grids and A-frames on her in preperation for the show the next day. She wasn't knocking but she was still rushing and jumping quite hollow although it was a lot better than recent attemps. Anyway my friend ended up putting the oxer up to about 1.15 and bingo!!!! We had a horse that was finally listening and backing off the jump instead of diving at it. She was clearing it with another foot to go as well as she had no choice but to use herself properly. I was so happy and i felt a lot better about the show the next day.

Got to Norton Heath on Saturday and walked the course. It was up to height and quite twisty with quite a few dog leg turns, 2 doubles and a related distance

not the best of courses for a baby let alone one that had been jumping like a spastic lately!!! I had already picked out the jumps we were having down LOL. Anyway Senza warmed up quite well, she was actually being quite lazy but was jumping really nicely proving the grid work had actually worked for a change.

Went in and we jumped no1 perfect, then it was a dog leg turn into and upright which i knew we would have down, we got totally the wrong stride and she got underneath it quite badly but bless her little heart she got herself out of trouble and cleared it

The rest of the course she jumped perfect, bit wibbly wobbly in a few places but she hasn't been out in 5 months. Got to the last jump and i breathed a sigh of releif, lent forward too soon and donk!!! We had a stop

Totally my fault as i just stopped riding her so brought her back round and we jumped it perfect. Was so so happy though as she jumped brilliantly and listened to me every step of the way.

Walked the Dis and the course was even worse!!! Was hoping i actually didn't get into the jump off coz the last 2 jumps were more like 1.10!!!! Anyway warmed up fine again but this time i carried a whip (i never ride her with a whip coz she dont like them but thought it might wake her up a bit in the warm up). Went to give it to my friend before i went in but she was nowhere to be seen so had to take it in with me. We had no1 down as i dont think she realised how wide it was, no2 fine, no3 fine, no4 the double and fine again but this time i tapped her down her shoulder over the second part without even thinking!!! We landed and she went balistic and galloped off with me, oops!!! I knew i had blown it by doing that, managed to calm her down slightly but as soon as i pushed her into canter again we were off at full pelt down the related distance. She cleared the first 2 parts fine but was going to fast to make the 3rd part so we had a run out throwing me into the fence so we got eliminated. I was kicking myself afterwards as i knew if i hadn't of tapped her with the whip she would of jumped round perfect again

I was stil really pleased with her though as she had only touched one pole the whole day. She was also using herself so much better and that was my main aim anyway so not bothered about the 2 stops as i know they were my fault.

Just waiting for the pics to upload onto the website and i will post them all for your comments

So i feel a whole lot better about her jumping again now and i am hoping that something has finally clicked into place.

Well done

Sound slike you might have started to unlock her potential now. Grids and A frames, and more grids and more A frames

Bo is also very similar to Senza in that he hates me carrying a stick. I stopped carrying one at all earlier this year, and it's made a big difference to him in terms of him listenning to me

I never usually carry one but she was being lazy in the warm up which is unlike her. As soon as i tapped her though i was like 'uh oh' as she just completly lost the plot. Oh well we live and learn and i know all the mistakes we made were my fault so just really pleased with her.

Out of about 54 starters though only about 10 went clear in each class

so was pleased just to get round ha ha

Aww well done, sounds like she is getting there...and by the sounds of it doesnt like the small jumps hehe!! Now you gotta be brave and jump the bigger stuff like i have lol

Quick get the piccies up

Well its sounds like S is coming into her own and just the jockey needs to do her home work now
smile.gif

I think thats the best way round to have it, now you can stop worrying that shes not going to make a SJer and work on yourself
smile.gif
No more whips either lol

Best of luck next time

Yeah i am really pleased we actually cleared everything, the knocking has been my main worry but after Saturday i have a bit more hope

I dont mind the odd babyish knock but the fact she is actually trying now is a hugh improvement. think the change in bit has worked to work now too as she is not running away from it anymore.

I am a naughty mummy for carrying a whip as i know she hates them and it was just instinct to tap her over the second part of the double.

Got lots of lessons lined up so with any luck its onwards and upwards. Til next weeke anyway ha ha

I know tell me about it!! The grids at the weekend were the biggest we have jumped and i was so shocked by how well she done so i think thats the key from now on
