My 7 year old TB, who has never had a nose bleed before, had one yesterday.
I was jumping my horse yesterday afternoon (not big, and he was not under any pressure), when i jumped off to put the fences up i noticed he had a little bit of blood inside his right nostril. I wipped the blood away jumped back on, popped a few fences, then jumped off again and i noticed he had a little more blood this time, the blood was watery. So i put him away and after wipping his nose again, it stopped and there has been no more since.

Whilst i was riding him he was snorting more than normal.

He is evening at Pre-novice level so does come under some pressure on the XC but yesterday we were just popping a few fences.

It really was not alot at all, so probably worrying for nothing - Any ideas?

as mentioned keep an eye on it, especially for signs of an infection.

if the horse has a non exercise related nosebleed , call vet pronto as it could be a guttural pouch infection. these have a nasty habit of being fatal.

my warmblood gets very minor hayfever nose bleeds (been scoped).

if its a little and does stop after a little while no need to worry it probley is a burst blood vessel
if it pouring out or if it continues to carry on then seek vet advice

One nostril and a small bleed isnt too much of a worry. My vet said to me, one nosebleed dont worry, two nosebleeds keep an eye, three call the vet. Obviously all three would be in a short space of time and not gushing with blood.
