Argh! Run into yet another problem with my boy. Some of you may know he is recovering from a kissing spine op and has been doing very well indeed. I had started trot work ridden and he was fab, nice and loose and round. Light in the hand and off the leg. Great! However, last week he started violent head tossing on the lunge and ridden. I stopped riding him but continued with the lunge work but it continues to get worse. I had my chiro out to him today and his poll was slightly right rotated, and pelvis left rotated, but nothing major. I am trying to address all possibilities, and him being a possible head shaker (this recent hot weather), is one of them, so I am going to buy a nose net. Does anyone have any recommendations, or comments as to whether they work or not?

ETA, I lunged him with and without the bit, so his issue is not mouth related. He also head tosses at liberty. Just in trot and canter.

I used to use one on a mare who had an allergy to rapeseed, she could happily hack downwind of a field full of them in it. Was about 10 yrs ago so no help on brand really, it was just a cheapo one from countrywide.

My Appy wears an Equilibrium Nose net from March - October. He is only a very slight head shaker but the net stops it completely. I must say I didn't think it would work when I first decided to try using one but was amazed with the results so would definitely recommend you try one. :)

Same situation with my mare, definately helps, i also find whilst hacking i rub a little vaseline in the lower rim of her nose, seems to stop the sensitivity.

Hi I was just wondering how you had got on with your horse? As my mare had a kissing spines operation and although she has recovered well from that she returned from the operation a head shaker - I am desperate to hear from anyone who has shared a similar experience and found something that works? As currently she is far more dangerous to ride than she ever was when she had kissing spines!

I had the Equilibrium nose net for my lad which I didn't find helpful at all, although saying that have only heard good things about them.
