Do any of you use nose nets? I've noticed in the last few days my boy snorting a lot when out and yesterday he had a very slight nose bleed. I don't know whether this was due to him galloping around with the others and he burst a small blood vessel or whether it's due to more pollen in the air hence him snorting. I've looked at nose nets to help with pollen sensitivity and the half nets that attach to the nose band and just cover their nose.

Would one of these help do you think? Thank you:)

I also use the equilibrium net relief on my gelding. He shakes his head, and snorts ALOT when theres pollen about and can become quite distressed. I found other brands of nose nets didn't work at all. He wears it all year now as a kind of safety blanket

Looking at the mesh size I find it hard to believe it stops pollen, but they certainly have a good effect on some horses.

My friend used one with amazing success on her TB mare. Her head shaking almost made her dangerous to ride as she hit the rider in the face several times, she wont head shake at all with one on!

Used to use an equillibrum one on one of our ponies and being the cheapskate that I am I bought some black net, got the sewing machine out and used one as a pattern and then made some myself - much cheaper.

mine is exactly the same - its like is blanky.

I have had my horse for 10 years now, owned him for 1 year before the problem started and nothing changed and one day it just started - he would try and bolt, get vert stressed, kick up at his nose, rub his nose alot the road...

Insurance company paid for him to got to horsepital for tests - he was there for over 2 weeks (bill was about £2,000) they scanned, xrayed, and did just about everything inc allergy tests and the result was - he's allergic to something (one of the only things that he reacted to was dust mites but the vet said that as long as i don't have him in the house that will never be an issue).

I'm lucky as the equilibrium net stops it 99.999% of the time, I get a very occasional head toss - but that could be temper.

I know the nets are pricey for what they are but you get a few refills and my last net lasted about 5 years and the only reason it was replaced was because we fell out hunting and it got ripped.

I used to compete him and the vet would write me a letter that stated he was a seasonal idiopathic headshaker and thats why he needed the net - had to get approval from BE but never had a issue wearing it. Just used to present my letter. He is now in his 10th season hunting, he eventing to PN the headshaking never held him back - his nuts just shrink a bit when there are no hounds!!!

I've used one on my boy for the past few years. They really work. He'll shake and sneeze and is generally not happy with his nose when the pollen starts. If I put his nose net on he's 100% better, he can carry his head without constantly sneezing and shaking it.
