Hi all, advice please. One of our horses has a very sensitive nose. He gets very upset by insects flying at his face or even his own spit coming off and hitting him on the nose when working. We have ruled lots of problems out with the vet and trainer. It is not pollen related and we have checked feet, teeth, saddle, back etc. He copes well while schooling but when hacking he gets very upset when it is a wooded section with flies. We want him to be relaxed and happy.
We tried a nose net but when he flicks his head it turns inside out and is half way up his face! Is this because we have fitted it incorrectly or have others had this problem?
Does any one know of another option? I saw the nose shield Ben Mayer used on his horse on the front of horse and hound, does anyone know the make?
Thanks everyone.

I've had this issue with my equilibrium net, last year it flapped about & he got annoyed & shook even more,I solved it by popping a flash strap on to hold it in place. Did same again this year when he started headshaking again but he was really unhappy with the flash holding it down this year & shook until it ended up trapped in wierd positions! Now using it on top of the flash & he's happy! It does flap a bit when cantering ,seems ok in walk & trot. Luckily I can manage without a net in the school & when jumping so he only hacks in it & I go steadily on the roads anyway. I was interested in the one Ben Mayer was using but not seen those for sale anywhere.

Thanks, I will try the flash and see if that helps. He isnt really a head shacker in the classic sense as it is very much related to thinks touching his nose. I just want to find a way of preventing things from touching his nose if possible.
