Hi!
my horse is a lightweight cobby type who thinks he is a racehorse! This is all very well, but I have noticed that whenever he does strenuous exercise such as galloping on the beach, hunting or showjumping jump offs he gets a nose bleed about 20 mins after stopping. It's always out of one nostril, his right one. It's never bad, just a little trickle of blood. Is this normal? He really works himself up and is always quite out of breath after hard exercise because he gets so excited is this the reason? He is never bothered by the nose bleed and never acts at all different to normal? Thanks for your advice! :)

There can be a few reasons why horses have nose bleeds ,a race horse where my daughter worked only bled when he raced ,never in his training ,so probably speed and stress combined. Google NOSE BLEEDS IN HORSES you will find a lot of info on there .

Ah ok, yes he gets very stressed about everything. I rescued him when he was 3 months and even now (he's 8) he still thinks that everything is out to hurt him!! He really works himself up about everything, he's really hard to keep weight on and as soon as you take him to a show he looks like a rescue case because he gets so stressed! That has out my mind at rest as was worried it was something bad! Thanks!

Try Red Cell equine supplement, I worked in a racing yard which specialised in bleeders [they stop horse winning races] and among other secret potions they got Red Cell.
