Hi, my mare is in a field with a quiet herd. There's just been the addition of a new pony who's 3. It seems really friendly but a little in your face. When I went to bring her in today, the new field mate, came trotting over to me and got very close, I'm sure just being nosey but seemed a little close for comfort. It sniffed my girl and she told it off which made it move away and allowed me to catch mine. I don't think it's nasty, just young but would rather avoid it running up to me when I'm trying to catch incase they have a tussle. Any tips? Thanks!

I poo pick a friends field with a pony in that wants it's nose in everything. I just wave my hands around whilst completely ignoring the pony. He used to come storming over but now just carries on eating. He is on individual turnout though.

My youngster is exactly the same. Even when he's told off by the mares he comes straight back again. It's like having a giant Labrador around when I'm poo picking. Nothing malicious just nosy (unless there's anything he can chew on in which case you've lost it)

I just ignore him and wave my hands at him if he's really in my space. My biggest mare is a bit more assertive ?

That is what my friend does with her dressage whip. It's an extension of one's arm. Just hold it out; waggle it a bit if necessary. She doesn't actually make contact with it.
