Not a good ad for the producer!!

That might not be the producer om him in the picture.

Sounds nice.
Very similar to my horse!

Has anyone got and details on the producer or it the term used loosely?!

A photograph is a mere split second in time. Whilst it may not be the best in the world, I've seen far worse.

As for slightly grubby, wouldnt bother me either. It's cold weather for a start so bathing a horse in this weather is a no-no. And besides, to scrub up a horse spotlessly for an ad can take hours, espescially when so much white on it. They probably didnt have a lot of time

I agree

I would be very unhappy if I were the producer of this horse and was mentioned in this advert with that ghastly picture. With horses we produce for sale for clients I normally always take the sales pictures and either I market the horses myself (on their behalf) or give suitable pictures to the owner and advise which ones to use.

Yes but if that's the photograph you've chosen, thinking that that is how to show a horse off to its best, it probably doesn't say much for your schooling skills......

I agree with that but if the horse was the type I was after I would not let that picture put me off.

He's cheap and being sold from the field. Recently having a baby myself and I tried selling mine when I was pregnant I know how difficult it is. Like pp said it may not be the producer on board.
God I hope my horse doesn't appear on here with people picking holes in the pic once I advertise him!

But it fits with the information in the ad.
"Turned away for two months and owner unexpectedly pregnant".
A very fed up person if you ask me.:D

The price is very good and if as appears, that's a bargain for somebody.

A bad photo wouldnt put me off. If its what im looking for. Ive gone and seen horses who didnt have the most appealing of pictures and have been pleasantly suprised.

It's not the fact that the picture is bad, or that the horse is overbent or mucky. It's the fact the producers name has been bandied about on the advert that I believe the OP is talking about. Crikey I don't care what photo my clients use but if it's a terrible one, don't dare put my name on a public advert.

Golly we do go off on some real tangents on this forum at times lol!

I agree with you! I am very careful about who I mention and how I mention them anywhere and wouldn't dream of naming names without authorisation to do so (and showing them the ad first in this instance - and I'm sure they'd be none to happy about the use of this particular pic)

Possibly going off on another tangent but I can't understand this bizarre act of threatening prospective buyers ''If we still have him in a few weeks he will go back to Charlotte to compete and will be 3 x this price''

I've seen this several times recently, the most bizarre one was a small tatty looking cob and I think it said something like ''Having his jabs done in X number of weeks so price will go up if you don't buy him now''

If people are not interested in your horse, threatening them with a price increase will not persuade them! Its like people have no idea how stagnant the market is.

Oh wow guys, have we not got anything better to do than to critisise others? Where is this going to get you? Perhaps phone up the person in the advert and tell them this instead of taking it to an online forum and slating them?

I know full well when I was pregnant the last thing I wanted to do was groom poo stains from my horse! I also know if you took a picture of my gelding he has a tendancy to chomp his bit and draw his head in like this when stood. Please be nice to others!

My horse will do this when stood while she has a play with the bit. As this picture demonstrates, the child could not have pulled her into that and had only pootled along at walk previously so its not a learnt behaviour (:

Fair enough but would you have posted that photo as a for sale?

If I hd been selling a horse for the reasons mentioned, I would not have put that rider on its back, I would have got said rider to help clean up the horse and present a sideways shot on. Like or not, first impressions count and that simply suggests that if they can't make an effort to present the horse for an advert, where else have they cut corners? the person who is the most interested was someone who knew the breeding and so saw "through" the photo. Also, this horse is under "project" whereas I think he is just green. A nice sideways shot, a bit of self congratulatory pat on the back of the owner who has already invested in having this horse started off correctly would ensure an easier sale.

I suspect Charlotte wouldn't be too keen on that pic herself lol. It's not attractive and makes the rider look uneducated but I'm sure the horse is a sweetie :)

..but the producer doesn't own the horse now, right?

The ad states the horse will be going back to further his education.

When a horse is sold, there's not much you can do about what it looks like at a later date.....I've seen alot worse.

The horse looks lovely! Just if i was the producer whos name is used i would be upset at the picture of a very overbent pony incase my name got a bad rep!

I'm local to that area and the producer mentioned has a very good reputation.

i am also in her area and in NO WAY would i ever send a horse to the rider mentioned
i was appalled by what i have heard and seen first hand.
anyone i talk to wouldnt go near her yard.

on the other hand i showed this photo to my mum and she agreed that it wasnt great to sell a horse with...

then showed it to my dad and he missed the point completly......... 'yes i can see why it wouldnt sell to well, tho its quite a good impression at a headless horseman,...... i guess they dont want to be recognised'......
really i give up (head slams on desk)

i have been looking at ads a lot recently and IMO more often than not, when there are pics of horses in action they are overbent. That always puts me off! I think it is worse when they are moving rather than when standing, personally.
