A horse - don't know who, has dropped dead on the XC in the 1* at Chepstow

I don't know howit died, I don't think a fence was involved.

In the Senior 1* out of 43 or 46 starters only 6 went clear. Loads of people fell off in the water.

That is not good at all.
Someone will be so sad tonight with an empty horsebox.

Especially as it is the rider's 18th Birthday today

Chatted to friend who was vet on site about that - Horse was 17 it was to be its last season eventing before being retired. Jumped a hay feeder coming downhill tipped its rider off as caught a toe, rider caught horse bought it back to get a leg up and it keeled over. Fence judge who we also chatted to said eveyone was in tears including them. Fence was taken out for ponies section.

There were alot of tired hores/ponies at Chepstow today for some reason....

It was a horse with alot of points etc. I think has been advanced and the rider had had the horse for years (although hadn't won all the points on it) They followed me xc. It had a heart attack but it wasn't fitness related etc. So sad for them
