Not a single response to ad - Over or Under priced?!

Having advertised my mare several weeks ago I for what I thought to be a reasonable price I have not had a single enquiry.

She is 16hh 4 year old, good on flat and of WBxLusitano breeding.

It was suggested to e today that she is too cheap & people are wary that there may be an undisclosed issue with her - I have not heard of this. What do you think?

You are probably right both ways!

I posted on here that out of 12 horses viewed so far they are all at various pricing £1200 to £3k+ and from what I have seen cant say ones been better than the other price doesnt seem to reflect what is actually being sold! And then there is the question if the ad is completely accurate too.

As to response to ads I have emailed advertisers/texted etc and not heard from them. I asssume they have all been sold? I contacted a few sellers this weekend and have not heard back from 3 of them. I also wish people would put landline numbers on their ads. I spent ages on my pay as you go, not everyone has free talktime etc! So pls put all options for contacting.
 
Can we see the advert? It may not just be the price that's the issue, maybe there's something you've said in there or phrased things a certain way that is putting people off.
 
I don't want to get a smacked bum by posting the ad so will re-type the crux of it!

I have used one good side on pic of her trotting, good outline etc...

Established on the flat - Has started basic lateral work.
Hacks alone or in company. Forward ride who enjoys her work.
Super, straight mover.
Good to do in all ways.
Potential to go on in any sphere......

It is just plain rude to not respond, even if the horse has sold, simple respond saying so - Manner cost nothing!

Indie, I have Email, landline & mobile in the advert....
 
I think the price is fine, but I don't think the advert is worded particularly well. Personally I think the main problem is its not targeted. You need to think who this horse would be best suited to and then aim at that audience.

So, are you selling her as an Allrounder/Riding Club type or as a Dressage Horse?

If an allrounder, then stress good temperament, what she's done so far, has she jumped, hacking in traffic/alone/in company. Stress her versatility and add a jumping shot if you've got one. The phrase "forward ride" would put me off... it just sounds like she is sharp!

If a dressage horse, then you need photos and ideally a video showing her moving. More than one photo really. And I'd spell out Warmblood x Lusitano (actually I do this whoever you're aiming for). Further down the advert you can specify exact bloodlines on Dam and Sire's side.

Where have you advertised? I've found Horsequest to be a good option in the past. Also if going down the dressage route - the BD website is good and cheap.
 
Sorry yes, the advert itself is more wordy - Just added the basics on here.
And where possible, websites etc I have used attitional pics and a video.
Not yet jumped her.

In fact we are unsure of colour, she was born Palomino, then went a sort of Bucksin, Rose grey to Iron Grey - Each day is a guessing game!!

She is a fab nature, real darling.

Have used H&H - Magazine & online. Horsemart and Horsedeals.
 
No expert as looking but "good in all ways"???

List them ie excellent or good with Vet/dentist/farrier/catch/stable etc etc
Sold sound open to any vet etc
Even though I am only looking for happy hacker I do like pics of horse with rider on being ridden and video is bonus!

When it says no joyriders this can put me off as I think its sounds arrogant(I am sure I really have time to joyride adverts) I am sure you wont put this but just me thinking wierd!

Glad you have all contact options too and I have looked in H&H/Horsemart is easy/Horsexchange and Horse Hunter/Even preloved!!

I would change the established on the flat - a lot of people don't want a 4 year old to have done enough work to be established :)
I would leave out the fact that is by a cremello stallion (a lot of people don't like crems) and just put HanovarianxLustiano and then the names :)
 
Personally I think it is very interesting that she is by Idolo.

I would make quite a big deal of it, as I recall he was/is a seriously nice stallion, and I think he is the sire of Icon, who is just a dream. If I am thinking of the right horse, you could mention him being in the Tanya Larrigan team. I also think that if someone wanted to breed a nice dun/palomino, then your mare would be desirable, she sounds lovely.

Where are you advertising her? I would be targetting her at classical dressage/equitation people. I woudl also advertise her on the BD website. Definitely don't drop the price, she sounds cheap. It would of course be nice to see a picture.....
 
Its hard to comment on the price without seeing the proper advert and a picture. The price sounds about right if you are prepared to drop a little bit. I paid £3000 for a lovely bred 4yr old gelding, who was pretty green on the flat, but had a great jump and lovely paces. He was 16.2 as well.

My friend sold her horse last year, and had no phonecalls for the first month, then loads in the second (and it sold). The market is strange, its not always the ad.

This isnt always right because from the previous description it sounds like she is grey and therefore her offspring will only have a 50% chnace of being palomino/buckskin if she was mated with a cremelo as grey is a dominant gene :D

I think it is so hard at the mo to know what price to put on a horse. A friend of mine is selling her TBXWB 5yr old mare for £3250 and she has done pretty much everything. Done a few dressage shows, sponsored rides, jumping clinics etc. Someone else I know is selling their 8 yr old WB mare who was only broken last year, and has done pretty much nothing, for £4995!!

Yes her sire is 'the' Idolo.

We have advertised her as 'Grey' as so many people seem to either be put off or do not know what 'buckskin is! To the unknowing eye she is a dapple/iron grey with a cream mane and tail!! ;-)

Try actually telephoning the sellers & speaking to them. Texts & emails are invariably sent by 'window shoppers' & so rarely get a response from a seller. If you are genuinely interested in a horse then actually speak to the owner & ask questions. ;)
