Not again...going to Liphook

Another colic this evening and another vet call out. He is settled now thanks to painkillers/muscle relazant but if he goes worse again he will be going to Liphook Hospital tonight.

Either way he will be going to Liphook tomorrow anyway so that they can do their full range of investigations.

Slightly worried as I hear so many bad stories about Liphook hospital and I am wondering wether I should get him refferred to Endells Hopsital in Salisbury instead?I have never heard a bad report about Endells.

If anyone could enlighten me I'd be most gratefull....

O good luck, honestly I really do feel for you. Cant comment on either cos i have no knowledge, how is Owen??
 
My old pony went to liphook for lameness investigations and they were fantastic, he was there for 8 days and unfortunately we couldn't go to see him at all, he looked very happy and well when we went to pick him up. I have known about 10 horses from my yard go to liphook as emergencies and noone had any complaints.

I hope your horse recovers quickly, lots of positive vibes coming your way xx
 
Thank you- Owen is in fantastic form...but someone has stolen my ultrasound machine that the physio leant me. Great. Otherwise Owens so well thanks!! Back in ridden work too...
 
Poor F what a nightmare - how come it only comes on at night? Always seems to be around a similar time?
 
Stolen the machine!! What is wrong with some people, honestly, they need bl**dy shooting. So glad he is back under saddle, how much are you doing?? I do wish you the best of luck with your other horse, these problems are never ending hey??xx
 
Oh hell! I do hope you get some sort of diagnosis on him soon! Poor chap!! It's devastating when you don't know how to help them! Big hugs!

Oh no... I can't imagine what you are going through at the moment.

Hopefully he will keep relaxed tonight and then be in good hands from tomorrow. I can't comment on Liphook as not near me, but it must have good vets there who are specialists in their fields which is a really good place for him to be in my opinion.

I think the worse part is not knowing what is going on, at least you will get some answers soon (fingers, toes, eyes, legs etc etc crossed for the two of you).
 
I know that is what I thought- you are right it is always at the same time!! He has been in all day and was in all last night,,has only had hay and probiotics... cant think what is causing this!

I know it is unbelievable!I am livid,. It is another thing that is really bugging me now- what the hell am I going to say to the physio - is the insurance going to cover it? Agh this is one hell of an expensive weekend.

Owens doing 30 mins under saddle now...we will be building up to 1 and a half hours over the next four weeks...physio and vet were thrilled with him on Thursday

Thank you Becki- maybe its just coincidence that I have heard the bad stories about Liphook! God I hope that the Liphook staff dont see this now LOl.
 
You are lucky- thats just it everyone, like you just seems to think that Endells is just fantastic! I do want my boy to be in the best possible place
 
I think every equine hospital has stories of unhappy customers - the reality is there is a lot of emotional owners that come through the door, that want instant results, and guarantees, unfortunately with sick horses those things rarely happen.

i do hope you get him sorted by tomorrow, he must have major belly ache poor boy.
it is one of my worries about buying a ex racer actually as they do seem to suffer lots of digestion problems for living a un-natural lifestyle.

but i do agree with you GT people want quick fixes and by the time animals have got to equine hospital it is too late for some and owners are told what they don't want to hear.
 
I really hope Forrester is OK this morning.

Herbie went to Liphook for his op and was quite ill afterwards, the staff and care he received was absolutely brilliant. I was phoned every day by the house vet and given a full breakdown of his condition and what they were doing. You don't get that on the NHS.
 
I don't know what bad stories you have heard but I worked there for five years and he will receive absolutely the best care and attention available. The facilities are second to none and the team is 100% dedicated to the horses in their care.
 
I do hope you get to the root of his problems. I must say I haven't heard anything bad about Liphook either - but I think with the number of horses they must see each year there are bound to be a handful of dissatisfied customers

my coloured was referred to liphook from chiltern equine and they were fantastic, although the prognosis (sp?) was s**t, they were great with her,

i haven't heard anything bad about liphook and i've had a horse there and worked with several vets who've worked there.

good luck with everything.
 
My horse was treated at the Liphook and i can honestly say that i have every bit of faith in them which is a lot coming from me as i have had a sh*t time with vets in the past.

My horse stayed there for 2 weeks in total and i dont think he wanted to come home at the end of it coz he was treated so well.
 
really sorry to hear this-best of luck. have only heard very good things about Liphook-even in Newmarket!-so am sure he is in best place.x
