I cant actually believe it! Some of you may know we were burgled a month ago, they took the mini tracter and the trailer, but left the horse trailer. Got up to do the horses this morning to find the tackroom broken into. Nothing was missing though

(thank goodness) thought maybe they had been scared off, ran round to the main gate to see if it was open and found the alarm system disabled and the door to the workshop wide open. The new trailer that we had bought to replace the stolen one 2 days ago was gone. They obviously broke into the tackroom thinking we had hidden the new tracter in there! (fortuently we hadnt replaced that yet)

We couldnt claim for the trailer last time and wont be able to this time. Someone had also thrown a sponge at Jerry

So so angry!! 2 days after we replaced it!!!!

It has to be someone you know. Too much of a coincidence for it to go missing this soon after being replaced.

Is it chained down to the floor or being a big most that you sink and lock into the floor? Can't believe the thieving hounds can be so horribly cheeky.

Have you thought about a hidden camera where you keep the trailer? or in the tack rooms ?

Sorry to hear about it - you are not far from me.

How awful! Some people are so awful

I'd stick some cameras up around the yard and borrow a big vicious rottie or something, to patrol the yard loose at night....

Can you not get some cameras up by the entrance to see if you can spot anyone hanging around? Hidden ones?

I would be fuming.

I would be tempted to buy some fake cctv cameras and stick them up, along with some deterant signs?

WTF with the sponge

It's unbelievable isn't it that these people somehow think its OK to steal other people's stuff! How do they get to think that way.

Can you get the police to come and help you to secure your place in such a way that it makes it more difficult to take your things? How about one of those sunken posts in the gateway so that they can't get the tractor/trailer out?

Poor you :-(

Poor you, how horrible!
A camera would be a good idea. At least then if they come back, you can maybe catch them.

I think this is a good idea too.

Its a horrible thought that you might be being watched. There's a layby opposite our yard which always has the same car in it that sits there for a while and then drives off. Creepy - i'm so paranoid they're watching our routine so they can break in and steal something when we're not around. Scary

OMG thats awful! Im so sorry, thats so unfair that its happened to you again! In future, maybe try putting camera's up? And also putting your postcode in those huge stickers on top of the trailer roof?

Actually have had a new idea about padlocks on peoples private property, if it is within an enclosed area, surely wiring some horse electric fencing converter to the locks on the inside of any shed/barn (padlocks are metal so will still conduct the current on the outside) so the padlocks themselves are electrified, that would give them a good zap without killing anyone if they tried again. Also when you go to open stuff up you just unhook the battery.
