hiya, really paranoid (again)
i posted before but i have grown!!!!!!!! grrr i hate growing!!!!!! (also a chance to see some recent pics hehehe)
so basically Mouse:
-13.3hh/14hh connemara cross
-15years old
-PLEASE DONT COMMENT ON HIS WEIGHT HE IS ON A DIET!!

Me:
-15
-5ft6/7 ish
-eek...10 stone ish (at least i should stay)

i dont ever want to out grow him....so
1. do you think i look too tall/silly or to big/heavy :(
2. how long do you think i can ride him for? (ever?? hehehe :p)

hahaha thanks :p xx sorry....im annoying lol!!! cant help being paranoid. he just looks really small now!! haha all my freinds are on horses...i like ponies hehehe :D xx
 
I think you look fine on him, if it makes you feel better I am 23, about 5ft7 & a pony squisher. This is me on my 13.3, I also have a 14.2

I don't think you're too big for him in theory - and fwiw, I'm 5'8 and ride a 14,2 (on his tip toes) highland. However, I do think he looks rather overweight, which means that he's already carrying more weight than he should be. If you slimmed him down, he would be in a far better situation to carry you.
 
You look fine on him. Whether you grow out of him depends on how much taller you get & whether you have more filling out to do. I'm 5'10 & 9 stone with long legs & up till having daughter mine was competing & hunting with me still. Unless I get too heavy I have no intentions of stopping riding her just because my legs are too long. What I will say though is if you grow a few inches more & get too tall, your riding progress will slow down if she's the only pony you have to ride regularly.
 
you're fine :) my friend is 5ft11, about 10stone ish too and she has only just recently (she's 16) moved onto a 15hh horse because she could still compete in juniors on her 14hh connie, tbh thou she did look a little bit ridiculous near the end with stirrups yanked up o she didn't knock the poles :rolleyes:
 
hahah thanks everybody :)

JFTD, he gets fat just thinking about grass!!! very annoying. he is on a strict diet at the moment...living of soaked hay and very minimal grazing (just to occupy him). he is also getting ridden every day, but its hard haha. especially since he now has a bad back due to the bad saddle and so is of for 2 weeks. :(

and PingPongPony that just made my day hahahahah :p x
 
Just for the record LM, I didn't notice your comment acknowledging his condition in your OP. Natives are difficult to manage (I have three myself) - it's much easier if you can have them losing weight over winter and coming into spring on the skinny side - now we're in perpetual spring, getting weight off is so much harder! Maybe try muzzling him whenever he has access to grass (grass can be deceptive - it's coming through fast here so my fields look rubbish but they're getting a lot off them!). If your hay is good quality, cutting, or replacing it with straw can help too. One of mine was box rested for a couple of months last summer - utter nightmare with a highland who needs hard work to keep him trim - I feel your pain :cool:

I am wondering, as you look quite grown up and have very long legs if it might be time to make the change to long boots? Break up the expanse of cream :p

Personally I think it will give you a much nicer/more elegant look :)

Oh and I think if you wanted you could probably continue riding him even when you have finished growing ;) He is a lovely substantial type :)
 
no way too big! He looks like he is carrying you easy!
If I can ride a 12.2hh exmoor pony when I am 5ft6 and 9 stone ish then you can certainly ride him!

haha thats ok dw xx they are very annoying....and i think he might be a bit of a grumpy bum if i put a muzzle on him haha. but my freinds got one so i could borrow it can give it a try! :D
