I did this for my friend.

We gave him a bath the day before (of course), and used a nice bridle with a very sparkly browband. We also had a sash made for him - like the ones you get for supreme champions. We had it made in baby blue and pink and had their names embroidered onto it along with the date of their marriage.

On the day, I got him plaited up early and popped him back out in the field with a light rug on. Then went to the church part of the wedding. Dashed out as soon as it was finished and shot home. Neighbour has kindly brought the horse in for us (text sent) and had flicked off the dirt.

I then used the same flowers that were being used in the brodesmaids hair and worked them into this plaits. Loaded him up, went down to where the photos were being taken and unloaded him.

Painted his feet with clear hoof oil and then sprinkled glitter onto his feet, and liberally sprinkled the glitter on him too.

He was an absolute star, ears forward the whole time, didn't gob on mums beautiful dress and the funniest bit was when the photographer asked the groom to stand between him and the bride. He shoved the groom out the way as if to say ' you might have a ring on her finger but she's my mum!'

A quick dash back home with him, changed back into the posh frocks, whilst neighbour unplaited him and put him out, then she drove us to the reception venue, We made it back just after the bride arrived.

She has a huge picture of herself, her husband and the horse on her living room wall.

My friend brought my horse to my wedding - it was so special and everyone enjoyed it. She was so well behaved, I think she knew she had to be (although she did have quite a bit of calmer too). I even managed to sit on her.

I had mine at my wedding, but I paid a friend with a transporting business to bring him. I bought him a nice Albion bridle with a sparkly browband, but otherwise I wanted him plain and just clean (he's grey, so no mean feat!) and plaited. Will try and link to pics if I can figure out how to do it on my phone.

A friend brought Drummer along to our wedding too and I hopped on sidesaddle. It was always my dream so without her help (and her hubby) it wouldn't have been possible. So it will be nice that you can help make her dream day even more special. Drums a big white cob so was a big responsibility lol but he was spotless, I made him a browband in our wedding colours which was just enough. I guess it depends on your friends style and theme but i think you could easily get carried away and go a bit ott in the nicest possible way. I can't figure out how to post pics from my phone but have loads I could show you/bore you with but will try and add some later. Any excuse to show them off!

I didn't have mine at the wedding (too difficult to organise, to get 4 white, feathered stockings clean, etc and the only people I would trust to load him were already at the wedding) but I had a carriage (pulled by a pair of clydies from my lads breeder) and my friend who was invited to the evening do came along to ride escort to us (another Clydie). I was so touched at the effort they had gone to to bring her there. She was turned out for showing and looked gorgeous. She was very sadly PTS 2 months to the day later but it meant I have fabulous memories of her and her owner got some amazing professional photos of her last big day out.
Neat and clean is the key but if you want to add any detail look at the heavy horses for ideas to incorporate a few ribbons in her wedding colours. A tail bun is dead easy (assuming it's not a pulled tail) and just finish it with a bow.
