I have a 13 year old Welsh mare that we just got 2 days ago (kids pony). She's turned out in part of a field as she's prone to laminitis. Has room to move, other horses next door that she can see and sniff, etc. Just moved her into this area yesterday, the day before she was out in the big field with the cows. She's eating, moving around, curious about everything, comes over when we go in. Her poo is a bit looser than it was the 1st day she was here, but nothing to write home about. My concern is that she doesn't seem to want to drink. The water level is still the same in the bucket as it was when we filled it last night. I have seen her drink from the trough the day before, so she was drinking. So if she is alert and acting "normal", do I leave her be a bit (does know where the water is, took her over and she sniffed it but wasn't bothered) or get the vet out? thanks!
