Turkey - fascinating history (Ephesus, Troy, Istanbul/Constantinople etc) but pick where you stay, unless you are planning on a multi-centred holiday - Turkey is VERY big!! Oh, and it will be VERY hot
I went to istanbul last month, was good for a few days but not enough to do after that.. you could always travel south to the popular holiday resorts??
Croatia is lovely, Italy? Tunisia?? Goa... the choice is endless hehe x
I haven't been yet but I've head very good things about Dubrovnik in Croatia. I'm going in September. It's supposed to be a very good mixture of beach holiday and city break, and it's outside the Euro zone, so not so expensive.
It is beautiful... to be honest there are many places that side of europe that I love... Belgrade in Serbia was lovely too and lots of recent history... oo this post makes me want to go travelling :O( if only my 16.2hh would fit in a rucksack x
Canaries are good in august, lovely and hot with a nice breeze to cool you down, be warned though dont how cheap a holiday you'll get as being the school summer holidays prices tend to double, triple, quadriple at this time of year...
I Have been to Croatia - travelled around there for two weeks from the top to the bottom!
I would recommend going to Hvar Island for a day! Its a sleepy little island - Nice to relax if you have been travelling allot!
We went there for a day but ended up staying for 3 days nice bars too with comfy / funky chill-out chairs! (I think the nice bars were on that island anyway!!?!)
I'd go for Turkey, mainly cos they're not in Eurozone as the exchange rate is crap at the moment. Friends went to Bulgaria last year though and loved it, and it was cheap
