Following my post about fleas the dogs have been de-flead but are still itchy despite me not finding physical evidence of the little blighters since the itching began.

Last night I walked past the sack of dog food and realised the words 'grain free' were missing from the front.

The poor dogs have been eating grain for the past fortnight :(

I can't believe I picked up the wrong sack of food, but new sack is on its way and the dogs should soon be itch free.

I feel so bad :(

It's easy to say on this side of a computer screen but try not to beat yourself up too much.

At least you have got to the bottom of what is causing it and you're doing something to fix it.

when I took on my new dog he came with a bag of brightly coloured supermarket stuff (yes the blue bag/box)
his back legs and back were bald.
crap food went in the bin as soon as we got home and I changed him straight over to skinners duck+rice with sardines a couple of times a week.

coat started coming back before my eyes nearly.

(he was checked by vet who after doing skin scrapes suspected it was food related.)

Lodger dog moved in with no hair from the chest down, and was constantly scratching. I changed his food and his fur grew back and he stopped scratching. He was obviously allergic to grain.

When we got our pup he went straight on to the grain free too because it was easier and it's good stuff. With him scratching so much at the change of food it is apparent that he is also allergic to grains.

The grain free gets delivered tomorrow, so they should be better in a few days :)
