Not a member of Facebook so can't see them. Perhaps as well maybe reading the posts above! How is your recovery going?

yuck very similar to mine, just never kept a picture diary and looking at yours I'm glad I didn't lol. I have to go back to see the specialist as my talus is still popping out daily and it dam well hurts!!

Yes, ouchies indeed lol! A few lessons can be learnt here from me... 1) riding other peoples horses isn't always a good idea - stick to what you know lol! 2) Horses that rear are not EVER to be trusted! 3) Broken bones take alot longer to mend then expected!!

It has been a very slow and long progress so far! After 14 weeks, I finally got my pot taken off! At 16 weeks I have JUST started to partial weight bear by putting my tippie toes on the floor, not even taking the full weight of my leg yet. My surgeon tells me that to break the talus is very bad news - I have over 70% odds against me!!

EVEN at this stage, when I start weight bearing, my talus could collapse and crumble as it is a very small bone in the ankle that takes your whole body weight through it. I have broken it into four! When I put any weight on it - it may just simply give, and there's nothing I can do about it!

So.... not fully weight bearing, no where near walking and no riding yet sniff snuffle sniff

I'm just taking it all in my 'hop' (was going to put stride but .... lol)! Taking each day as it comes, and most definitely not doing anymore then my surgeon tells me too! Hopefully being a good girl won't prolong this any longer! xxxx

Ouchie. Takes me back to my major leg surgery, caused by a dog not a horse!! Looks like it is healing well, bet you can't wait to be back walking properly again.

Yup yup, defo think you're right!

Smoke has become ultra clingy to me! Anyone comes round, he sits on my lap and wraps his paws around my neck and just glares at the visitors lmaoooooo!
smirk.gif
A weeee bit heavy to be a lap dog - 4 stone of staffie ontop of you isn't the best lol!
crazy.gif
Although as clumsey as he normally is, he is really good and gentle around my leg
smile.gif
Everytime I leave the house, and return home, open the front door, and I CAN'T move ANYWHERE until Smoke has inspected my leg lol!

xx

Naw bless, that's too cute! Wish I was less technically challenged and I'd post my cat hugging cast pic.

Animals are the best (apart from ankle breaking horses of course

They do indeedy lol! Haven't you heard of the horror stories of hospitals operating on the wrong leg etc..... it would have been just my sodding luck if that had happened to me lmao
tongue.gif
I hadn't appreciated they drew on you, when I came round from my first operation and saw my leg I freaked!!!
crazy.gif
I thought they had tattooed me lmao! I was admittedly still off my face on morphine, talking all sorts of random nonsense!

Well, yes, I've heard of it, but I didn't truly believe it! Mostly I've heard of the wrong person having a testicle removed, for instance (not a girl, obv...
tongue.gif
) but don't they have notes that say LEFT leg? Even if they don't notice that one leg is quite a bit more swollen than the other... *sigh* Ah well, better safe than sorry, eh?

I had the same accident as u, rode some1 elses horse as they were to nervous to, he reared up and flipped over.

I broke my Fumur, stayed in hospital 4 over a week and had a long recovery. I have the same scars as u but on my thigh and another set of scars by my knee as they put a rod in to hold my break in place to fuse the bone.

As i had a rod to hold the bone I had 2 weight bare very quickly as this is ment 2 improve the fusing. I was riding but only in walk with my horse only he was a super star never put a foot wrong. Walking has been the most difficult for me mentally and phyically. I walk with a limp and have had physio at least once a week.

Hope u recover as well as me, its a long and slow process but to make sure u make a full recover u have 2 listen to the doctors and physio.

Oh gosh that sounds horrendous!

A rod!!!
shocked.gif
Have you had (going to have) an operation to have the rod removed, or is it in for life?

So far I have been a very good girl doing exactly what my surgeon and physio have said.
smirk.gif
Too many of my friends and people I know of, have rushed things and it has gone wrong, needing further surgery, or even having surgery when the initial injury didn't need it!

I have learnt my lesson through their mistakes!
crazy.gif
I don't want to prolong this anymore then necessary!!

Speaking of which, one of my mates broke their arm a month after my accident, and IMO she is being too quick to do things, I hope it doesn't end in tears

Totally starting to understand what you mean about mental and physical blocks....
crazy.gif
when I was told to put my tip toes down and 'pretend' to step on it with minimal pressure... I just couldn't!
shocked.gif
In body I 'thought' I was trying.... but as I went to do it, I just couldn't do it! My brain wouldn't let me!
blush.gif
I have major confidence issues
frown.gif
, but I think better that then over doing it!!

How long have you been out of action? I hope you have a speedy recovery too xx
