Not high withered anymore?Is that possible?

Hi everyone.Some help here needed.Is it possible for a horse to change shape so much,what from high withered he become not high withered? When we bought out first boy,he was really skinny and not topline at all,so were sold high withered saddle.6 month later saddle fitter came for a cheek and admitted what they would not sell us high withered saddle now,because he changed so much. I though high withers its conformation,and cant be changed.Am i wright or wrong? Please,share your thoughts and experiences.

Withers will come up when as a horse matures to full adulthood but they won't change when fully mature but the topline will always change due to a change in work or in weight, so if your horse had filled out around the wither pockets and along the back then that's why your horse will now take a differnt fitting.
 
I had the reverse, like Flying Solo, so imagine it's perfectly possible for it to change the other way, especially if there's been an ill-fitting saddle or no work to build up topline.
 
Yes as my over weight pony has lost weight she has developed more defined withers so I'm sure the reverse is true if weight is gained. :)
 
I bought my horse and she was very thin. I borrowed a high withered event saddle with a narrow fit as she had a huge wither and now I've recently bought my own saddle. A wide fitting GP and she no longer has a high wither! As others have said she's filled out either side of it and along her back.
 
His conformation won't have changed but his shape will if he has put on weight.

When he was thin he had no body fat or muscle around his wither so it looked very thin. Now he has weight on a lot of the area is now covered with fat & well muscled horse.

Currently I can't get a saddle on my horse as she is too fat - I'm lunging her to get her slimmer and fitter and once she loses the extra weight her saddle will fit her again.
 
My Hanoverian x had awful muscle wastage and hugely high withers: this improved with work and correct feeding so his saddle needed re-fitting.

Conversely, my cob dropped weight and i discovered he had some wither so I had to sell his gorgeous Cardanel and get him something else.
