No idea how many letters but some of the sports have been foreign ones and I have been looking at this for days now. Sometimes they are anagrams but can't work this one out at all.

Well, "ling" is heather - just a question of getting the other bit - still working on it!!

curling sounds better. heather is ling - i liked the violence of hurl but curl is a synonym for pull.

I think its wrestling - wrest is to pull with a violent twist and ling as in heather.
