Wasn't sure where to put this...

My little Siamese is very intelligent and when she gets stressed she likes to let you know about it. She will yowl until you look at her and then start plucking herself! The vet has suggested a plug in which releases some sort of pheremone (sp?) and I was just wondering whether anyone else has ever used one of these???

We use one for Bumble Dog when we are in the apartment when we are away and going to leave her, we worry that she will howl and people will complain - so far we have not heard her howl and no one has complained so it must work - along with the pigs ear and bonio she has stuffed into her mouth and is guarding with her life

Feliway? Dope for cats!

Apparently it helps my mother's very nervous cat. If it dosn't happen very often you could try a drop or two of Bach Rescue Remedy.

I'm glad it is working for you... hoping something like this will help my little Inca because it drives me mad when I find another bald patch (only the size of a pea) because I know she must be upset at something.

Take a good pinch of skin behind her ears and when she opens her mouth to swear at you drip a couple of drops in! That's assuming she's not then going to immediately sink all specially sharpened grappling hooks into your arm!

He he... no she is pretty good at things like that although after we have given her wormer tablet to her she does tend to pluck herself so reluctant to try this in case it stresses her out even more

I could end up with a bald pussy cat!

Thanks anyway

we use 'Dormatone complex' by Natures Answer (health Food Shop) drops on the newspaper round our boys litter tray - one of them didn't like using it for a while and kept peeing elsewhere. Now we put the drops down and they go mad, rubbing their faces on the newspaper and rolling around - apparently it creates a 'safe place' for them to be (?!) - anyway it worked for them so I would recommend it!!!!

I would definately recommend Feliway. It worked on my Siamese who would decided occasionly that she was going to cry all night and nothing would console her. She was like a different cat - quite weird really, a bit zombie-like at first but gradually she became herself again but without the dramas. However, just over Xmas, after about 18 months of use, it hasn't been having the same effect. She is 15 yo and the vet thinks she has alzheimers disease and has given me ACP for when she has a 'moment' (usually every month or so) - haven't tried that yet and a bit worried about when I have to.
But please try the Feliway - it worked for a while for me - just wish I had tried it years ago.
