Why oh why do people buy animals when they have no idea about how
Much work there going to be !

My friend has a small child and put on Facebook that she wanted to buy a puppy and when she said what she was going to be looking at everyone Said noooooo... It's a Siberian husky puppy, anyway she brought this puppy after everyone said how much hard work they are, with them
having loads of energy.
Well she's had the pup for 5 days now can't cope and his being sold on :( poor little fella
 
deffo no thought went in to it, his 12 weeks old but it's because his spent the last five nights crying obs because his not used to being away from mum, if I had the space I'd take him can't seen my other dog being to happy about this though
 
I see it all the time on facebook. It breaks my heart to see all those animals passed around. Does no one remember "A dog is for life, not just for Xmas?"

I had my cat for 18 years, my dog is still going after 13yrs and hopefully I'll have Ned for a long time too! I don't get animals for the sake of it.
 
Poor little mite. Just goes to show that these people should have listened to advice. Most puppies cry for a week or so until they get used to their new life and I believe these dogs are harder to handle than most as they need constant attention. All the dogs I have had over the past 20 years have been rescued or unwanted pets that others have taken on without regard for their future. Two of the dogs have now passed on, but I now have a lovely collie that the owners were unable to take into rented accomodation with them and I know she will always be loved and cared for. Hopefully they will have learnt a valuable lesson and the puppy gets a good and loving home. Most good breeders will take them back and re-sell them if it is only a few days.
 
Unfortunately huskies are becoming the new staffies. Good dogs with lots of training and experienced owners. Not good as family pets with young children and little or no exercise. Expect the rescue shelters to be full up with them soon. My OH is a SA vet and sees lots of them in the surgery with behaviour issues.

Makes me sick when people buy a pet because it is the latest fashion, without doing research into their suitability to own one. When the dog misbehaves and they cannot or will not get some training, they will dump it and get a different dog, as so the cycle continues :(
 
It's deffo sad specially as he hasn't even settled their yet but to be pushed onto someone else hopefully he'll end

Much exercise and constantly being kept amused. But I guess people just see the cute little fluffy puppy n think how cute they are without knowing the breed. My friend has a 4y0 and it has 3 long walks aday, deffo do not make good family pets
 
Best she buy a stuffed toy. Doesn't matter what breed she buys, to only give it 5 days and get rid because of crying, she wont cope with anything.
 
Maybe husky pups should come with a label 'yes, I look cute, but I will howl, dig, and eat your house and when I am grown up I will not come back to you if you let me off the lead and I will need to run for hours every day' - dya think that might work?!
 
IMHO there are certain breeds which are best in working homes only e.g. sibes and mals. Some people may actually make good pet owners if only theyd do their research and get a breed based on the time they have, what they wan a dog for and where they live, not how cute or beautiful they are! The other thing that I find terrifying with these particular breeds is when people don't take seriously their unpredictability off leash.

Have to agree tho, if you can't cope we with a new puppy crying, get the kid a hamster! Hope this poor pup gets a suitable and patient home soon.

As I said on another post, ALL puppies are cute. It's a terrible reason to buy one. Especially if you can't be arsed to find out what they were originally bred for in the first place and whether that will fit in with your lifestyle.

Then there's the other angle, pet bred dogs for the pet market who have had all the working instinct bred out of them, which I find just as sad sometimes.
 
I brought my puppy then a month or so later found out I was expecting but already fell in love with the puppy so couldn't just get rid, it's hard work but love how close him and my little boy are, specially as the dog in question is a staffy and was a horrible puppy for chewing and just being a nightmare but his 5 now and a lovely fella :)
Think sometimes when you take on animals you have to stick it out rain come shine.

but I'm sure the huskie will have
No trouble finding a nice new home anyway :)
